You are skilled at being fast if you form it quickly and you are very determined and patient if it takes you ages, you are good either way, also dealing with stuff like war exhaustion and simply not crumbling also adds non-player reliant pressure onto your formation, its a hard formable nontheless. The difference betwen this and the mongol empire is that your success of becoming a great khan just relies on you taking over most of china and Russia, after that its just picking up the bread crumbs right next to you.

Go to the country tab, then there's a button next to the formable you want to do, I forgot what it says. Click it then it should show you

Force peace, when you take more than 90% of a countries cities, you can take all the cities if you select the remaining ones in the peace deal

Basically, grab a bunch of troops in 1 blob, turn auto merge off, shift+click to form a line in the shape u want the troops to spread out, then (don't let go of shift) click form line in the troops menu
