I have not seen it apear in any other sets that are not in the lone ranger theme line. You are most likely talking about the classic lego revolver that is not at all as detailed as the ones in the lone ranger sets.

I found mine in a similar way. Much smaller bulk lot, paid $1.38 per figure, he was the last figure on the top right of the image and could not see his torso so it was a total gamble. When I got him his arms were wrecked but a little arm swap and he's now good as new in fantastic condition, no cracks.
