Nancy's guy Frank here...that is a rather uncommon 1950 Ford... most had the V8 not many had the "6". BUY that CAR! It is a marvelous find. By the way the 6 had only a few hp less than the V8. And with the over drive... it is a great FIND!
@resetsetmefree4782 ай бұрын
Anything that age has at least had the engine rebuilt so it's not really as "all original" as it may appear. The original engines were built for leaded gasoline which you cant buy anymore so that's why they were rebuilt/swapped out to handle the regular stuff. But on the inside it looks like she's been driven which is a great thing to see on all original cars. There are classic car detailers which can do some great stuff with interiors

I'm just a pizza car subscriber. You're doing fine, don't worry about complaints from the clueless. As for semi retiring, I'd advise taking a middle ground. Back off if you need to, but don't stop. Remember what got you to where you are, and don't lose traction on it. There's a big difference between reducing throttle, and completely lifting off the gas to where your life experiences engine braking. Lift off to hold 40mph, 45, or 50 instead of the current 70. Don't lift off and coast to a stop. Assets get burned through quicker than you think. Only life off assets in an emergency. Keep living off income.

I feel this all the way in my soul! I spent 20 years working in Franchise Dealerships as a manager for most of that time. I took 2 months off last year and just drove Uber because I needed a break from the constant daily grind that was Dealership Life. I unfortunately, can't leave the car business alone and ended up going to work for an Independ Used Car Dealer and, wish I would have done it sooner. I missed so much over the years and it never clued in to me until, I stepped back and asked myself "WTF am I doing?? Is this really worth it??". Now, I don't stress about anything (I just sell and do minor management tasks) I'm closed every holiday and, I'm home at a decent hour everyday!! Scale back, spend some time with the FAM! The problem with modern-day appliances, cars, and everything else, is profit. Back in 1950, your major manufacturers (RCA, Zenith, Frigidaire, etc) competed with each other based on engineering, features, reliability, and longevity. A Zenith engineer, for example, went home at the end of the day proud that he was part of a team that made innovative home entertainment products. Now it's a fight for the highest minimum wage at McDonald's. RCA, Zenith, and Frigidaire are now just names that Chinese manufacturers licensed to pretend that they have a name-brand product, but it's really built in a sweat-shop. Consumers as a whole just want the cheapest price anymore, and psychologically don't care as much about longevity because our modern products are so boring, they're ready for something new in a couple years anyhow.

So, about the ‘50 Ford and why we do not make them like that anymore…. I have a 1951 Ford Victoria 2 door that is the last year of the ‘49, ‘50, and ‘51 “Shoebox Fords”. I recently replaced literally every piece on the front of the car. I lost count of the nuts and bolts pairs and screws I was using to put everything back together at around 120 to 130. The center section of the grill alone was around 40 fasteners! There is no way manufacturers could make a cost effective car that way nowadays! Well done on assessing the engine and the electrics! For someone who says that they know nothing about the car, you were 100% correct! About the overdrive… The car has a quasi semi automatic overdrive. In third gear, while accelerating, one lifts off of the gas pedal and the car will automatically shift into overdrive. The handle you pulled on will lock out the overdrive. Parts are super available for the Shoebox Fords; so you could get that car running and looking decent again without too much trouble.

I've been watching your videos for years can't remeber how Long, you were Living in Midwest city. You have really come a long ways. Congrats. Nevermind the na sayers. I know that's alot of work. You deserve a break. Enjoy your time off if you do.

A guy I hung around with my last year in college had rebuilt one of those. It was a BLAST cruising around town in that beast! Buy it and bring it to the channel!!!!

I’m a OG subscriber and those reruns brought back soo many memories of watching those videos with my kids especially when nick and the other kid was so young. Remember the Jeep liberty and one rerun I would love to see is the Rx8 series all of them keep up the great work Randy. We love you and your videos

I had a '50 Ford in 1962 & LOVED IT!!! I would LOVE to have this one as I LOVE 4 dr's, but at 77+ it needs way to much work to bring it back to life!!

Burnout does hit, I took a little time off myself. I enjoy the reruns Randy, as I've not seen a lot of those.

The heat has been very bad, you should every once and a while take time for yourself. Thank you for your hard work.
