I Found a PLATINUM Nugget While Sniping For Gold!

In this video I exercise what's called gold sniping! Its when you snorkel in a river sniping out pieces of gold with hand tools. Sniping for gold is my favorite thing to do because of how easy it is to find gold and not create a mess like what gold panning, or highbanking does. When you snipe for gold, sometimes you will find things like platinum or other rare minerals (depending on your area). I got lucky enough to have found my first platinum nugget, and the second piece in my collection!

Love seeing you out sniping Pauly. And I may be wrong, but it seems like you find just as much as someone panning. And it looks like a whole lot less work involved. Now I know you have to fight the current a lot of times, and move rocks around, plus being in the cold water........... But I'd think that beats digging up the dirt and rocks, then hauling it to the water, swirling it around, etc, etc........ Just my thoughts, and I guess a vote for sniping. :)

You wern't kidding about how sharp shale is, You need some new gloves! Fun fact: before settlers came in to Alaska and Antartica the inuit and the other eskimo tribes made their knives the ulu from chipped slabs of shale and either wood, bone, or, ivory to serve for the handle! They discovered the metal brass and iron by trading with the very cold white man for warm furs!! I guess they were very excited about metal so they could stop getting cut up making their knives from shale!! 😂 awsome knives though, loved your video!!

If you don't need to dive the snorkel, I recommend the 360° mask and a trekin shoe since the neoprene of the boot is sensitive to breakage. Translated from Spanish to English

As you said, gold is 19.3 times heavier than water. Ordinary stone is about 2.6 times heavier than water. This means that gold is 19.3/2.6 = 7.4 times heavier than ordinary stone. But in water Archimedes' principle is important. Because of it, in water, gold is effectively (19.3-1)/(2.6-1) = 11.4 times heavier than ordinary stone. That's one reason it's better to pan in water than in air.
