Body vin on offside suspension strut. They need to do a full diagnostic scan with JLR software. The VIN is also stored separately in instrument display, seat modules, kvm module, body control module etc etc. Surprised they haven’t thought of that .

You can recover the VIN number ( i think) electronically -- its within the ECU If you can recover it and get the car cheap enough it would be good project

You can pull the vin up on the dash on a 2008 audi! This lack of knowledge is why I'd never buy a car from copart unless I could see it myself

I honestly think the TOPDON scanner you use to fix all your other cars may reveal the VIN via the ECU. Unless someone spent the time to change all those parts too.

It's a 'thing' that happens where the OBD socket has an extender fitted to it (close to the socket) which intercepts information such as the VIN when a tool requests it. However, it is usually easy to find the intercept device - it is physically in the loom.

Its an SVO car and the build number sticker is clearly visible inside the driver door. Contact JLR as this number will cross reference with the chassis number.

Yep agree, you can also plug in your diagnostics machine and many of the modules are vin locked.

You’d guess that if that satin blue is a factory colour this must be a rare bird and very few would be reported stolen fitting the description. I don’t think it would take a Hercule Poirot level insurance investigator to identify it!

Something you didn't mention in the video that could cost thousands is a missing ceramic disc I guess you have to buy a pair or complete set new rear caliper will cost a fair amount also 🤤

Also I think the lift driveshaft has been rammed into the differential and it is now missing.

It should be etched on the right hand turret facing the engine. I work for LR at Solihull and have snagged 100s of 494s. That carbon bonnet is a rare option worth around 5k alone if I remember correctly. I'm sure the matt paint was a 5 figure option as well. I could put the vin from the windscreen into my computer at work but I'm 99% sure it'd be long off the system by now.

Hard to work out if you are mad, almost totally mad or utterley irredeemably insane with no hope of redemption !! Golfs Audis TVR and so on , all unfinished or nearly not quite still waiting for bits and so on and so forth and a full time delivery driving job. Utterley fascinating to watch though and good luck with that Porsche which will need the whole of its back end taken to bits and frame jigged out . new back subframe and so on . Happy days !!

Chassis number is on the drivers side suspension turret, in the engine bay.. I work for JLR dealership in Cornwall. Love your videos BTW

Focus looked like it had the standard Ford binnacle issue with dry joints and all sorts of gremlins as a result. My Kuga has the same issue and the cluster is on its way to be repaired as we speak.

on the SVR ,look at the r/h suspension tower down on the side in between the tower and motor for the VIN , it should be stamped there

The GT4 fuse board is open as that's where you jumper onto to open the froot to access the battery. Had a flat battery in my Cayman I used to own so that's how I know.

Carbon ceramic brakes at a £6000 option from factory order. I believe to replace a disc subsequently is about £5000 a corner. Fuse box open to get access to the front boot using a battery on the orange/red terminal.

The focus rs is having a error on abs and esp and no mileage. It is having a issue with the intrument cluster. The common issue is the soldering on the circuit board needs to be done again. I have seen it from focus rs mk2 drivers (I have a focus rs mk2 for 6 years right now)

Hey Dean I thin the dust box cover is off as when they take a car onto the track some cars if you pull the fuse for the nanny state equipment ie abs airbags traction control etc it stops the car from firing the systems mid lap looking forward to seeing this one to see what the chassis Is like the dent in the roof at the top of the tailgate is easy ten minutes with a slide hammer welder

Its not going to be quite that easy my friend. Yes, the dent itself is an easy fix. It could actually be fixed with a PDR method I would guess. Whatever made it in the first place tho9ugh, that is likely going to be the problem.

On the Svr there is a VIN number on the rear arch under the liner that a lot of people don’t know about. Might be worth a look.

I'm an ex branch assessing manager for NRMA Australia, the guy who makes the decision if its a write off or not, though in charge of all of the assessors that visit the panel beaters. Dont buy it, if it has the crease there, the whole car will never be in alignment and will be really bad at high speed. This car is not a car to drive slowly around town. Unless you want it for the farm steer clear of it. The Vin on the SVR should be under a plaque under the driver or passenger seat.

Just a thought.. If that SVR is in factory paint it shouldn't be too difficult to identify as there probably aren''t too many with that option. Just track down the others and whichever is missing is that one..

Every main component is date stamped and the factory keeps a log of it all . Diff, gearbox body shell engine block etc . easy enough .Plus assembly /inspection stickers under the door cards and sound proofing .

That SVR will be easily identifiable by JLR there are barcodes and a lot of modules on them will have the chassis/vin number in the software

It's so fascinating that SVR jeep because of VIN it can't be sold if it's not visible on the body why not check it's MMI the vehicle ID it that fails plug diagnostic that will detect it electronically unless cluster computer box are inaccessible.

Nice GT4! I'm puzzled by the dodgy Range Rover. To send it to CoPart surely you would have to legally own it? If you own it you would surely have originally had the VIN. Maybe someone knows how this can happen.

When you showed the rear at point of impact, I noticed the sub frame was completely creased and rippled in the middle of shot....doesn't look cheap.

Lovely car but thats going to be an expensive day out to fix it. Is the NSR wheel and brakes with the car? Will be expensive to replace the calliper and disks for that along with the rebuild.
