On a recent day of exploring and searching for abandoned places in South Western, Ontario Canada I came upon an address sign and what appeared to be a long overgrown driveway that just disappeared into a forest. I parked to investigate and found that there was a whole abandoned home hidden in the woods. While inside the home, I found a photo taken from an aeroplane of the property when it was active, I had my drone with me so I flew it up to see if I could match the photo taken and do a now and then comparison. A kid just got shot exploring what they thought was a abandoned property. By an 85 year old man who lived like a hermit. Just something to think about when exploring

Wow. A literal hidden gem! A lost house ❤ hard to believe anyone was in there as late as 2004. What a shame, it was so immaculate in the seventies and eighties. Great little find 😊

I love these older houses, man. I'm guessing that Mr. Garfield passed on and his son was probably moved to either another family member or a special needs home or something.

Interesting place! I keep admiring all the drone shots in these videos, and thinking that's what I need these days for exploring abandonment. I'm old now and not nearly as mobile as I used to be, so having a drone fly over and through a place would be very helpful.

@@Freaktography Definitely considering it. It would also be far safer for exploration. I can't count the number of times I've fallen through a floor or a collapsed wall. LOL

Fantastic! I'd love to have a drone to snoop out some of the groves of trees I find. I think I'd crash more than I'd fly LOL. The ceiling in the kitchen was called a sunshine ceiling. Have a great day, Dave! :)

Still makes me wonder what happened to those people. Crazy...awards just left there...the whole property just overgrown like that. Creepy.

Yes, seems like a large property including surrounding farm land. Surely of value to someone if sold.

someone got old had an event emergency government takes them puts them in a home, decides they cant go back. kid lives in different country or far away property rots till their parent dies goes through years in probate since bills build and final they get it and sell it off - I worked a a volunteered for seniors that summed up 1/4 that were in the home

Make sure to get permission first on properties surrounding farm land…more times than not it’s old family homesteads that they want preserved and not plowed so they don’t tend to people going through things.

Cool but we didnt get to see what was in the chest freezer or fridge. Maybe we dont want to know though.

There is something really odd about that "photo" of how the lot used to look. It looks like an artists representation. I don't think it's real. That yellow truck right in the middle looks like a toy. And why is the background all green. I think this is a photo of a scale model.
@LearnEnglishwithBobtheCanadian3 ай бұрын
This was a trend with farm photos in the early 80's. They would take a picture of the farm with an airplane and then an "artist" would touch it up. We have one of our family farm similar to this. They are quite strange as sometimes the artist would paint things as they imagined them, especially farm equipment, which looked nothing like the real thing.
