I just bought a 1910 original craftsman with 1/2 acre lot and some seriously old groth trees for $48k. It needed about $10k worth of work. Its 3200 square foot and has all of the original built-ins. My mortgage payment (including taxes and insurance) is $500/month. I'm less than an hour from a huge city, but I live in a town of approximately 170 people. I commute to work 3 days a week and work from home the rest of the time. My kids graduated from a high school with around 45 kids. My oldest had 13 in his graduating class, and my youngest had 15. But it is an A+ accredited school with a state championship basketball team, FFA chapter, band, and ridiculous scholarship opportunities. We're incredibly safe as there hasn't been a major crime here since Jesse James came through over 140 years ago. We have access to emergency services, even life flight, within about 8 minutes, but we can hear coyotes outside in the evenings and see more stars at night than most people have ever seen. There are grocery stores, fast food places, regular restaurants, banks, and everything you'd need in an emergency within 10 minutes, and real shopping and restaurants within an hour in every direction. We have real emergency services, gas stations, and a post office just down the road. Everything costs less because we're in the Midwest. I had to put my 13 and 14 year old chihuahua babies to sleep a few months apart this year and we were able to bury them in our pet cemetery under the 200 year old Oak tree in my yard that my family will be living next to in another 100 years. My house is spacious enough for my kids and grandkids to come stay in (when I have grandkids) and will be paid off fully in 6 years so we'll be able to leave our boys a house with no encumbrances when we die. We could sleep with our doors unlocked and be perfectly safe, but we don't, because were not idiots. We get the absolute best of both worlds and don't have to pay $7k a month for a tiny, claustrophobia inducing closet that will never belong to us.

Having a washer and dryer in the unit is WAY better than a laundry room. For example: 1) I do not have to leave my apartment to do my laundry. 2) I can be lazy 3) I do no have to worry that my laundry will get stolen. 4) I do not have to worry about people messing with my laundry.

How is it possible that Charles only has 8000 subscribers? Yes it's a different vibe than when he's with Cash but it's still all his usually awesome apartments. I saw his short on the studio & 2 bedroom apartments last week. I think out of all of them I like these the best. The only drawback with the 1 that had in-unit laundry in the bedroom would be that I wouldn't want roommates going in there whenever to do laundry

The apartment starting 11:04 is classic prewar NYC. The features are timeless, especially the beautiful fireplace. (I just hope that "being renovated for gas pipes' doesn't mean the they're swapping the gas stove out for an electric one. That would definitely be a move in the wrong direction.)

I'm in Love with the $6 400 duplex loft with rooms. Interesting how the law determines how this particular living space is listed & marketed; simply due to the absence of windows. Yet at the same time, landlords are allowed to rent living spaces that are unsuitable for occupancy due to the lack of space caused by landlords chopping up apartments into units as small as jail cells. And charging ridiculous amounts of rent for the privilege of living in NYC. Lovely apartment tours. The dynamic duo are at it once again.

Last unit was about the best one and the only one that I would even consider. And although I do love in unit washer dryer, I think that a really good laundry room in the building would be just as good if not better. Less things to worry about overflowing... Not to mention the industrial washers usually do a better job.

These are some very interesting apartments. Mostly they are spacious and bright, which is quite desirable. But, I did see at least one bathroom that is a bit of an enigma. And laundry in a bedroom closet! That's wild! Well, it's better than not having laundry at all...I guess. Thank you for another beautiful video featuring the incomparable Charles Monroe himself.

Right on Charles!! Don't judge a book by it's covers!! I love the narrow suite for $6,400 for 4 people and that back patio is fabulous!! Our on the deck, a grill, plants!! Yes!! Talk about fun and a great location too on the UES in Manhattan. You know for 4 people that is good! Rents are insane but that is reasonable for rent split 3 ways. I love the layout! Very cool!!

The second one with the 12x21 foot living space and garden was the best. Easy enough to create a private bedroom by putting in a partition with glass frosted half way up, 9x12 foot with a loft bed would leave a 12x12 foot living room.

I live in Las Vegas and I can't get over how expensive it is to live in New York. Before covid a 1 bedroom in Green Valley or Summerlin which is the rich parts of Vegas rented for no more than 1000 per month and were twice the size of most of the ones in New York. Now 1 bedrooms are anywhere from 1100 - 1400 that I have seen and we are complaining about how expensive they are now lol. You can rent a 5000 Sqft home with a pool right now for 4000 - 6000 per month here. So I am definitely appreciating the cost of rent here now.

The fact that the two sinks don't line up with the ONE mirror and the window would kill me.... The first apartment is very interesting, and with laundry and outdoor space, but since it doesn't have a legal bedroom I'd have to pass. The others comprise a selection of spacious units with ample closets and functional kitchens, all of them newly renovated, and all of them requiring an income of $110,000 and up, even when shared. I note that Charles had to warn Cash not to break anything.

The microwave has a built in exhaust fan, they are meant to be placed over the range, not common where I'm from but seems standard in many NYC apartments.

I've always hated that too. Microwaves or range hoods are rare in NYC apartments. Only put in these new renovated over priced ones lately. It's like a new formula they have to make a tiny place look as good as possible with as little money as possible then triple the rent from the last tenant.
