Will I be able to visit the jungle, dessert, Swamp, mountains and arctic without leaving the country. I've lived in Europe, you get free stuff but everything is more expensive, wages aren't as high, taxes are higher, houses are smaller, there are less freedoms and government is constantly in peoples business. its a good place to live but America is my favorite.

USA could never be like the North of Europe. Our population is much more massive, more influential in economy and military. We’re also more diverse, and perhaps more divided. Major differences. By culture too. Pretty sure it’s a fact now that the powerful countries *usually* or sometimes don’t have the happiest people, but the ones being defended and not caring much about their military with small populations are the ones who’s happy. They separate themselves from the drama, and focus mostly on better life for their people. That might be bad for times of war though. Or pressuring from other countries.

This is a very subjective list. Feelings can change from one side of a city to the other. Take Chicago for example. You live in gang ridden neighborhoods, with gunfire being a common occurrence, then you probably would disagree. However, if you lived in a high rise, in a gated community, or anywhere remotely nice, you’d say it’s a great place to live.

Other infrastructure is well-made, even in older cities water gets to where it is needed without much problem. Without public transportation you rely on having to have all these cars, park them, so on. Not to mention with all this space city centers have no real reason to host a variety of things, like grocery stores, retailers, other things like that

No it’s not. Many studies have shown that people who live in Helsinki are the happiest about it. Besides, have ever even been to Asia? Yeah, there are some nice places, but also very many that are poor. So poor, that 5-year-olds have to work and they get a ridiculously small price from it. Some places also got a really bad air quality because of all the factories around there. Yes, some places are pretty cool, but I don’t think that people know a lot about the bad side of Asia which is really sad.

I’m from Helsinki and honestly yeah, it’s really great. Lots of parks and nature even in the centre, beaches, a national park like a 30 min drive away. Lots of options regarding shopping, eating out etc. all around the city. Not too crowded and relatively safe. Healthcare and education all the way to a PhD is tax-funded in Finland. The only complaint is that it can get pretty expensive, like easily 300k+ € for a 1br apartment near the centre. Many minimum wage jobs do have a ”Helsinki extra” though so you make some cents more per hour. I’ve also lived in the US and would choose my home country any day but I guess I’m biased. 😄 I can see why it’s ranked highest on the list.

I agree with Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, they are all beautiful. The issue with Christchurch and Auckland, like why they arent higher, is that auckland is more industrial/polluted than other cities in the country, and Christchurch has a TON of earthquakes. Like a few years back, 2011 I think? A heap of the city got destroyed.

I’m from Adelaide, Australia and I’m a bit disappointed that Adelaide isn’t here. It’s such a great place to live and it’s definitely better than Sydney and Melbourne, for living. I actually live in Helsinki Finland and id say people here are happy and it is a good place to live, though most finnish people don't do that much and just prefer to stay at home. I totally agree. I moved in the banlieue parisienne for uni studies and even though there are some cool aspects I admit this is not the best place where I've lived. I've never felt this unsafe before in my life, even as a man I don't go out at night. Seeing all the stories about sexual harassment in Ile-de-France in general is terrifying. I'm dying to finish my studies and leave this place.

I currently live just outside Austin but lived in Houston for 5 years. The place sucks I’m not even going to lie. It’s hot, humid, traffic is the worst, it floods every time it rains (which is a lot), it’s very ugly, nothing to do outside unless you want heatstroke, if you’re trying to walk somewhere forget about it, too many hoa’s and finally no one that I’ve talked to likes living in Houston lmao
