Nice find Trey! Once I went to Lowes and bought 18’ cedar boards for a porch ceiling . Took them home, put a coat of sealer on them, installed them on the ceiling, and by chance, I had a perfect set of book matched boards in the center of the ceiling, so cool.

You can make a heavy duty fiberglass box 📦 with just a small cardboard box 📦..get a small cardboard box and put fiberglass cloth in it and around the outside too and then put your resin all around the box,let it dry and then sand it and u can use it to put tools 🔧 or other stuff in it too..A very strong box to use for whatever you want in your shop..

Cup/ring/wind shake is what that type checking is called. It’s normally caused by high winds. Sometimes water can build up in that shake and cause or exacerbate rot. Makes for some interesting felling sometimes when the tree looks good but you get splashed with water when you put a chainsaw to it.

Trey, those Bookmark cut slabs, would be perfect as an Executive Conference table. Open at one end with the CEO seat in the cut out, at the Top. Epoxy in the separation area of the lower sides would enhance while at the same time allow for the symmetry for a Large Table. FL has amazing large homes. I am sure with proper marketing of the slabs, a Woodworker with amazing skills could fabricate an amazing table for high end clients. Can you imagine dinner at that dining table? Best of Luck. You could possibly make out much better than cutting it into smaller boards for Charcutier boards. Keep up the good work and always keep your eyes open.😀

Trey - - - Let me be among the first to tell you that I really admire a person who, on his own volition, will stop and do some civic activity when he/she sees a need ($3K) for it... In this case it was a matter of picking up some unsightly litter from public view and thereby depriving some other sharp-eyed entrepreneur of having to do some onerous profitable cleanup.(No doubt, the vast majority of those people would only be seeing those dollar signs clouding their civic feelings, unlike yourself.) Added bonus; you will be able to make something gorgeous out of those cut - up wind - shaken pieces. (Alternative reason for the ring - shake split pattern in the center of the butt section.) Congratulations on realizing that you had actually found something valuable .

If you can dendrochronology those tree rings - (knowing where you live in Florida - then date range out your hurricanes (and offsprung tornadoes), it would suggest that this event really shook, pushed over and back the young-adult tree - like Sasquatch fighting-wrestling a bison, beating the cr*p out of this 30-40 year old tree - disrupting the cambium from the core trunk wood, recovered (amazingly), and continued its life. Possibles : Least-likely : Hurricane Easy (1950), King (1950), Most-likely : September 10, 1960- Hurricane Donna strikes near Cape Sable after crossing the Florida Keys, and after briefly moving emerging into the Gulf of Mexico makes its final landfall near Fort Myers. It leaves a path of destruction across the entire peninsula, including destroying 30% of the state's grapefruit crop and leveling over half of the mangrove trees in the Everglades. The passage of the hurricane results in 2,156 destroyed homes, 3,903 severely damaged houses, and 281 boats destroyed or left with major damage. Throughout the state, Donna causes over $300 million in damage (1960 USD, $2.19 billion 2008 USD) and 13 direct deaths. Least-likely : Cleo (1964), Dora (1964) Most-likely : ************ October 19, 1968- Hurricane Gladys makes landfall just north of Tampa Bay, producing moderate rainfall and two tornadoes while crossing the state. Damage totals $6.7 million (1968 USD, $42 million 2008 USD), primarily due to structural damage. Least-likely : Eloise (1975), David (1979) or Kate (1985) Most-likely : August 24, 1992 - Hurricane Andrew makes landfall on Homestead, just south of Miami, as a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 165 mph (265 km/h). The winds destroy 25,524 homes and damage 101,241 others in southern Florida, leaving up to one-quarter million people temporarily homeless. In Homestead, more than 99% of all mobile homes are completely destroyed. Hurricane Andrew causes $25.5 billion in damage (1992 USD, $39.2 billion 2008 USD) in south Florida and 15 direct deaths. At the time, Andrew was the costliest North Atlantic hurricane in the history of the United States, though has since dropped to eighth after Hurricanes Katrina (2005), Ike (2008), Irma (2017), Maria (2017), Sandy (2012), Ida (2009), and Harvey (2017).
