I Found Peace | mylifelizabeth

This is a story I haven’t told you yet. It is very personal but something I’ve been wanting to share with you for a long time now. This is the story about how I came to Islam.
I have seen countless convert/revert stories on KZbin and all of them tell a beautiful story. But today I wanted to share my story not by doing a whole sit-down video but make a short film and tell you some of the things I went through before I decided to convert to Islam.
There is so much more to the topic then what I covered in this video and insha’Allah I will make more videos on important subjects like hijab, growing up in a cult and struggles one might face being a convert.
This video was very hard for me to share with you so please be gentle and understanding.

You talked about growing up in a Christian cult. So did I, for about 7 years of my childhood. When my family got out, we were very confused and hateful towards any concept of religion. It took some years but now my family and I are very open to religious and philosophical thought. I've been studying religion in college and in my own free time for a few years. I recently finished the Qur'an and am now working on reading a volume of Sahih Al-Bukhâri that one of my muslimah friends on campus gifted me. It makes me so happy whenever i see a revert story. Allah guides whom he wills! I can't imagine being in your shoes. Having no one to support you, It must've been so hard having to take all the steps yourself. Whenever i see a revert story, I just become even thankful for the fact that i was born into a Muslim family. Having everything easy for me, Mosques to pray, a Muslim family, Muslim country and on top of all, freedom on practicing of my own religion. Alhamdulillah! I really like what you said about coming to a point where you needed a push but nobody around you pushed you and that you had to do it yourself :) I have been studying Islam for a couple of years now and I feel I've been at this point many times....just waiting for somebody to push me in order to take the last steps....not willing to push myself I guess.... I think the last step was the hardest but in the end I couldn't deny the fact that I believed like a muslim. Prior to saying my shahada I always though 'what if this is my last day'. Because it actually could be your last day and you could miss the opportunity to be forgiven for all your past sins and to earn your way to Jannah 😊

Remember you, me, and everybody else will be leaving a day if not to day, coming sooner each day. _Imagine, you are traveling. After long journey, you come to rest in pit stop. You have started you journey but you have yet to reach your destination. This world, this life, is the moment you spend in that pit stop._ You need to rest to stock and get prepared for the way ahead, last leg of the journey. At the same time, no matter what, you know, you will have to back up your bags and leave tomorrow. *You tell me, how much value you would give to this bit stop?* When your Soul leaves the body, it will remember everything it has been before it come to this body. Then upon this realization, you will be so happy with what you have achieved in the short time you stayed in the pit stop, life. Or you will be so ashamed and regretful of what you have missed and how you let a pit stop lose you your final destination. The REAL LIFE. _See, your Soul knows what your purpose is, but you Mind does not. Your mind is from the atoms of this world, your souls though is from an Alien existence. No matter how materially contented you might be, if Soul does not have connection, you will feel the void inside of you. Why, because your soul does yarn with connection of its Creator and from it is restlessness, is what drive many to drugs and depression._ We are all destined to be waken up from sleep. Either we get the chance before we die, or once Angel of death comes, and we do really start to see the Angels, then we start to have wished. But at that moment, when we can neither talk no do any other actions, what can belief do for us if we exhausted our lives and chances for fleeting moments which at that moment will come to an end? Don't wait tomorrow. You might not have tomorrow. Many people did not. Once we leave, all that we own, possessed we be of no use. Memories of us by others will cease as they too will cease. Titles, riches, names will be forgotten. And all that left will be the Mark of our graves which in turn will decay and be forgotten.

The thing to always remember is that by choosing Islam we do not leave the true christianity nor the true Bible. The Quran mentioned 15 centuries ago many verses about the Jesus (Peace be upon him) and the Bible. But we all know that there are many versions of the Bible now and all of them were changed by human being. Who is this person telling me verses and saying that they are from God when in reality he did it just to gain something from it? Believing in the Quran is believing in all Prophets without any exception and all the books that were revealed to the Prophets. And at the same time rejecting any falsehood or deviated books. So Muslims believe in the true Bible and the true teaching of Christianity. There is one Chapter in the Quran (Chapter Maryam) about Mary, Jesus's Mother, defending her and showing her high status in Islam as a great woman. thanks Elisabeth for sharing.

I am glad that you found peace, finally. You should always do what gives you the most peace in life. I respect your decision and feel happy that you were bold enough to go after your desire. I happen to be a convert to orthodox Judaism, btw. I was able to relate to you on your pre-conversion details. In the end, I feel, it was the desire to be closer to G_d, that made us do what we did.
