That box is specifically for key points of information or lore relating to the story that's not already in their character description or the scenario/lore if you use the lesser version without the left side panel, specifically the first version shown, that's the one I have the most experience with. By using that feature, it checks the box constantly and adjusts to match, so if you put "Blank is Aroace and can't romantically love", then it'll remember that as long as your text remains in the box.

I just used this, and i CANNOT reccomend it enough. Never once did the character become flirty or sexual. The memory was alright. For some reason, it kept on calling a character uncle joe (that was not his name), but i corrected that. Finally, normal, NON SEXUAL rps. Theres a great feature where you can make a reminder to help it remember certain plot things. Love it, 10/10

i started using character ai to create alternate endings and scenarios for movies, tv shows, video games etc., so i wasn't doing the kinky shit. i made like a whole ass new season of breaking bad with the walter white bot (pretty much the alternate version of the 2nd season). that was around december last year. now walter (or any other bot for that matter) doesn't remember the messages i sent him just like 3 texts ago. shit's gone bad. not just that, but mentioning even something as basic as politics is prohibited. which is kinda funny, i guess.

The tokens on the bot's are limited. Tokens are basically the bot's memory, and chances are they decreased it, so they run out faster.

Oh, I've heard of perchance, even used it a little bit. And it also has many other different things, too, such as a Rain World iterator name generator, which generates both incredibly cool and incredibly odd names (example of a good name: Will of Diversity. Example of... an odd name: Upon Great Nasty. And yes, all Rain World iterators have very strange names, one of the canon iterators is literally called No Significant Harassment. And he's a pretty important one, too). Either way, perchance is quite versatile! But yeah, it definitely does need a glowup, as someone else said.

That's probably a default for people that don't want to do romance with bots(which was often pushed by bots on cai even if you didn't initiate anything). I doubt it's impossible, though I've yet to try the site for myself( since I like to use bots to feed my delulu lol).

i wanted to try to use character ai one day, since out of boredom, i do have myself some time chatting with AIs, however when i saw they were forcing me to pay for premium or otherwise i had to wait 30 minutes just to chat with one character, that's there I went on my way to abandon them, i hate to death corporate greedness, and the fact that they actually lock their service behind a paywall when they were allowing to use it for free is insulting. i did use this ai thing, and i did enjoy it quite a lot last night, glad to see that there are very good alternatives out there.

Perchance is good, probably better than Character ai. I've noticed some flaws that this site has. The ai isn't that good at making high-quality bots on existing characters, and from my experiences, sometimes the ai uses the word "quaint", a lot and the way the ai speaks could use some improvement. Other than that, the site is good.

The best alternative I’ve found is just hosting your own with something like LM Studio, then setting custom instructions to have it act as a certain character. No censorship, and you can easily pick the quality level that matches your computer’s resources. Recommend having 32GB of ram minimum for loading most good models, and it’ll be a bit slow if you can’t offload it all to your GPU

Used to love character ai tbh because of the roleplays, but the filter is absolutely atrocious and way too strict. You can’t even kill the bot or have a fight without it filtering you.
