I cannot believe how expensive these card stores are now. They used to be the best and cheapest places to get Pokémon cards. I lived in Japan between 2016-2019 and most of these cards were soooo cheap. These stores would never have increased the value of the cards more than they were worth. This was because people simply collected the cards for the artwork or just to collect them. It was never about the value in Japan. But now it’s only about the value which has completely transformed the hobby and made it almost impossible for OG pokemon tcg fans to collect anything anymore. Even KZbinrs who used to get excited about artwork only display the value of cards in their videos now. As fun as these videos are to watch, it’s damaging for real collectors because it only increases the value of the cards even more. Similar to when Logan Paul latched onto the hobby - it changed and ruined tcg for everyday collectors everywhere.

idk man im a og fan collector and i can ddef still buy alot, if u were a og an collected alot when it was worthless u prob dont have any cash problem by now... i was never about money but cant ddenie the fact that my collection is in the 6 digits so it helps to keep buying alot and makes it really easy to be able to afford what u want. peoples who cant afford anything are the fakes one.

@@keju6669 that’s fair enough. Although having valuable cards doesn’t automatically give you additional revenue. I do have some valuable cards but I like to keep them as part of a nostalgic collection. It’s not all about the money for me. It’s a fun hobby to collect that I’m passionate about and that brings me a lot of joy. But it has become increasingly difficult to do so when non-collectors have jumped on board because now suddenly it’s more lucrative than ever and they can make a living off of it. I mean good for them but it’s damaging to fans of the collecting side of it. That was my point. 😊

gotta find the lowkey stores away from the main touristy areas, they are out there, but not many foreigners know about them. Unfortunately a lot of people fall for the stores in the main city, like the ones in this video. It's almost like these stores are literal tourist traps (maybe they are idk). But the ones away from the main cities which dont get many foreigners have to compete with the japanese secondary market to make money (JP secondary market is way cheaper than the touristy stores) so this is where you'd find the cheaper cards. TCG's are at its peak atm in Japan so its not the best time to buy at these popular stores. Almost everything is overpriced.

There's also no limit to how many you packs you buy at that time so you can basically score several in one visit. Just saying I wouldnt pay for free promo, rather spend the money on trophy and actual limited cards.
