Hey Kris! To answer the fursuit question, yeah it does get hot so often when wearing it, especially at cons they’ll be spaces set up to take breaks and cool off. Also there’s mini fans and cooling vests you can get for while suiting. But it also depends on the type of suit you wear! Some people wear just a head or paws and some people wear full suits. It’ll be hot either way but full suits are super warm

Related to Kris' fursuit question: I learned recently that a furry touring a NASA museum came across the then-modern inner cooling suit for astronauts. They looked it over, thought "I can do better," and then used it as the basis for an improved cooling setup inside their fursuit. Then they sent the suit's schematics to NASA, who were so impressed that they actually used the design. Every modern astronaut suit uses the same cooling tech as the best cooled fursuits.

As a person with serious Misophonia, I can confirm that mouth noises are infuriating. However, they’re worse when it’s quiet. It’s pretty much hell, because it’s hard to be around others in a quiet environment, even a noisier one on a bad day. Reactions range from yelling and throwing crap across the room to just breaking down and crying. Hope none of y’all have to experience that either, have a good one.

Oh yeah, it's somehow worse when it's quiet. Maybe not worse, just bad in a different way. Just spent like 2 hours (intermittently) aggressively plugging my ears because a classmate was obnoxiously chewing gum... You wanna punch them and strangle them... Usually don't yell or react much in public, but at home, I might get openly frustrated. Breaking down crying is the worst.

The only thing I worry about is, if someone who was deemed more "socially acceptable" based on looks did some of these TT's, then would the vast majority of society consider it cringe or cute? Because from what I've seen, the TT's that tend to end up being considered "cringe" are the ones with people who don't fit the "ideal person stereotype" of societal norms. Like with the "daddy" videos... if a girl that was considered "hot" did something like that, most people would drool over her, possibly duet the video in a response, and she wouldn't be on the "cringe" side of TT. Jus' sayin' 🤷‍♀

I also have misophonnia, and I think it's been mislabeled online. It's not just a "hatred" of certain sounds. It's when everyday sounds activate your fight-or-flight response, causing anger, rage, and even panic. It's torturous and debilitating, and most people without it don't take us seriously when we talk about our experiences or ask someone to stop making a sound that is causing us nothing short of physical pain.

@@AppleShineWC It sucks, doctors don’t know anything about Misophonia and don’t even listen when we try to tell them about it. I’ve told my primary doctor about it, three different ENTS, even saw an audiologist and the audiologist was amazing and she listened to me and did research but she said she couldn’t treat me because she didn’t know what Misophonia was. My audiologist was incredible, I cried because she was so sweet and caring and she even tried to refer me to a specialist who treats tinnitus thinking they might be able to help me. However, the specialist refused to even see me and even multiple neurologists who my audiologist called for me and who I called myself, they refused to even see me since they don’t know what Misophonia is. My audiologist confirmed my hearing is above normal, which makes sense for my Misophonia and I also learnt I have Hyperacusis (which is an ear disorder where sounds physically hurt my ears.) It’s awful, I wouldn’t wish this disorder on anybody because it has ruined my life I feel like and has gotten worse the older I get. I’m 23 and been dealing with this since I was 10, after I hit my head. When I was a child and young teen, it wasn’t as severe as it is now but I felt crazy because I didn’t know why normal sounds made me so angry. If I could tell my child self one thing, is GET THERAPY!! Therapy and my psychologist hasn’t cured my Misophonia, but they’ve made life a lot easier. Due to my Misophonia and Hyperacusis, it has caused severe depression and anxiety. I also noticed my anti depression and anxiety meds has helped ease my reaction when I get triggered and eases my anxiety about worrying about triggers. I still do wear my earbuds all the time and when I’m sleeping, which doctors tell me not to do because it makes my hearing more sensitive (which it has, my ears are very sensitive to noise and it has worsen my sensory problems. Also has caused me to get ear infections a lot.) I did see a therapist for the first time at 17, I told her about my Misophonia and she didn’t listen to me which made me feel even more crazy. However, I wish I switched therapists because I became severely depressed and developed severe anxiety and became very isolated. I still struggle a lot with my sensory problems, mental health and socializing but I wish I got help sooner. Please, to everybody who maybe reading this, get help! You’re not crazy! Misophonia is a real disorder, it’s not your fault and I understand. If therapists don’t listen to you, keep going to new ones! Also if you have Facebook, I highly recommend joining a support group. The support group I’m in on Facebook help me so much with advice, ways to cope and to not feel alone. ❤️

To answer the fursuit question: yes, it gets very hot, very fast. It depends on the kind of suit and how much padding it has, but an average I've heard in the past was about 95°F inside most suits. There are plenty of folks who will remind you to drink water and take frequent breaks when suiting at a convention, and some even have special spaces full of fans just for suiters to take their heads off and relax for a bit. Too many cute suits have been destroyed due to heat stroke, so we've figured out ways for it to not happen as much.

These days some makers are building the heads with vent holes in the cheeks under the fur so there's less material between the wearer's face and fresh air, helping them stay cooler. They can also be built with battery powered fans in the heads and people will wear cooling vests under the body portion of the suit if needed to keep cool. There's usually a room at conventions known as the Headless Lounge where suiters can go to take a break if they need it as well. There's an unspoken "rule" in the fandom that says "Screw the magic" and all it means is that the suiter's health is more important than the immersion of the people around them. It's pretty common to see someone suddenly remove the head and hand paws of their suit for a quick break to cool down. Most of us would rather see that than a $3000+ suit getting cut off by paramedics due to heat stroke 😅

Had to help a snow leopard with heat exhaustion at Pride. He was wobbling, and just set his paw on the nearest person’s shoulder (me) and said, “You know where the first aid tent is? 5:00 First off, that fursuit was SO CUTE! Second, yes fursuits can get EXTREMELY hot especially depending on what type of suit you have. If you have a plush suit, that’s a lot of excess padding that goes into it making it really hot. Some fursuit makers put little pockets in the neck fur to put your phone, but you can put ice packs in there too. And if the mouth opens, that can be used for some ventilation too.

(This exact same scammer commented on my comment too- but I've seen OTHER scammers try this on different youtubers accounts. Guess some poor naïve soul has fallen victim to these as there otherwise wouldn't be this many.) They often use the youtubers prof picture and name themselves something towards their scam/the youtuber.

To your furry question, as a furry since 2009-Yes. Most like that one is made of upholstery foam. Covered in fur. So in the most literal sense it's like wearing a sofa on your face. This is why we have headless rooms at furcons, so you can cool down without having to go back to your hotel room, and not "breaking the magic". Others are made with resin how ever it is still just as hot, but now heavier. Some get creative and install fans in the muzzle, but even then it has little effect and is recommended to take frequent headless breaks.

I, too, have Misophonia. It's not too severe, but it does make me kind of angry to hear things like mouth sounds, fingers tapping (if they aren't mine), and even footsteps annoy me sometimes. The one sound that annoys me the mist is the sound of someone swallowing a liquid. I have no clue why, it's just.... *AAAAAAAAAAAA*

As a furry, yes. Fursuits get insanely hot, heat strokes are common so in conventions there's usually headless lounges where you can take your head off and rest a little. You need to make sure to either have some type of ice packs or something to cool you down, also you need a ton of water. Fursuits are essentially human ovens on insanely hot days. You will sweat a lot since it gets so hot so easily. Thank you for asking!

As a furry, hers what i would say: I personally do not own a fur suit but I do know a lot about them. It is VERY hot in there, but once you’ve been fursuiting for a couple of years, you get used to it. Most fur suits have a fan hidden somewhere in the head, and you also get ventilation through the open mouth. Some fur suits have a hole right inside the ear, and most fursuiters own a cooldown vest, which is basically a vest with pockets where you can put ice packs. It usually lasts at least an hour. I love u kris keep up the good work!
