In the 60s my dad was a teen who spent his summers hearding cattle through this very country. Wouldnt be surprised if he camped in these buildings. There are many of these cattle camp buildings that were also used by miners, but not solely. They dot the northern Utah, Nevada, and southern Idaho foothills. Sagebrush land is meager cattle feed, so you had to move them weekly. Jumping from one cabin to the next was how they mostly did it.

This is my old stomping grounds. I was born and raised in Hailey. I have explored all those buildings that you filmed, and many other mines and old cabins.

Can’t understand why people would tear these cabins up like this😮

Unfortunately it happens a lot. Generally, they do it for fun and because there are no consequences..

Nice explorer Dave well these cabins were not used any more sense the cell phone's came out so the cow boys have a better signal at the home ranch a sign of the times as well 😀🇺🇸

New subscribe. I think I recognize those people you are with. I hear good things about them. A lot of good stuff. For the most part, nicely built. Must of looked nice and comfortable in it's time. Part-time resident of Idaho(when it's warm). Is that nice lady British ?

I never knew that Idaho had desert, I thought that so far north it was all trees and mountains. But on that note, the area looked very interesting, and the cabins were neat too. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)

Yeah, there's quite a bit of desert in Idaho mixed with mountains and agriculture land, it's an amazing contrast!

@@DaveExploresYTI live in the Idaho desert. I love it except in summer! It really gets hot here. The high mountains are nearby to cool off, though.

Why is it, that when some people see something abandoned they have to turn into a jerk and trash it?
@DaveExploresYTАй бұрын
Many vandals have the mind set of since it's abandoned nobody cares and there's no consequences since nobody is there to see them do it.
@rosaliebarry7586Ай бұрын
It is a sad trend in the US to ruin abandon places. In Europe they have more respect

Wonder if anyone ever made much money off most of these old mines.
@DaveExploresYTАй бұрын
Sometimes they got lucky and made money. But, many of the smaller operations lost money or barely broke even.
@thinman8621Ай бұрын
@@DaveExploresYT Most of the cabins look as if they were pretty austere. Making money in mining looks to have been a tough life.

The plastic brick isn't plastic it is a layer of brick coated with fire resistance chemicals. That area housed the wood stove.
