12:23 peripheral vision means you have to keep your eyes focused straight ahead and think about the edges of your visual field (instead of looking to the side). there is some color perception in peripheral vision but it’s worse than in central vision

I feel like, much like with central vision, everybody's eyes are probably a li'l different from individual's to another's and thus some people's peripheral vision may see more/better or less/worse than other people's peripheral vision can/does. (I mean, some people have four cones while others have three, or some people have one cone that differs slightly....and so on. It's pretty fascinating stuff, honestly; I love it, I love learning how different people literally experience the world differently than other people do and not always only because they have their own mind/personality/thoughts/feelings/etcetera.💖)

You're absolutely right. We did an experiment for this in Uni and, even though, everybodys point was different, there was a point at which we couldn't tell, which color an object was, that was shown to us. The interesting thing was also, that this point was also different for different colors.

Our brains are very active in creating what we experience as our vision. My right eye cannot perceive the color red because I have a blind spot in the center (cannot read with that eye either), yet when I look at a red object and close my left eye, it takes a bit for the red to disappear. It becomes a snot-like green. Orange becomes grey. Other colors aren't affected as strongly, but given my left eye tends to do all the work I usually don't notice it. As my brain keeps filling things in to create a full field of view, albeit a field of view that is very unreliable on the right sight as it's memory and guesswork on the right. Anyway, thought I'd add my perspective as someone with a visual impairment.

Not being able to see color in your peripheral vision is totally true! It was one of the first things I learned when I took Psych 101. The experiment works better when you use markers and have a friend to hold the object for you so you don't have assumptions of the color.

I'm not sure if there is absolutely no colour in your peripheral vision, but it is true that the cones (the photoreceptors that distinguish colour) are more concentrated towards the center of the human retina (as opposed to the rods, which are more concentrated towards the edges), meaning that people can identify the shapes of objects that enter their peripheral vision before being able to identify their colour.Cones are also more important for vision in lower light or at night, which is why the pupils get bigger in the dark; it allows more light to hit the rods on the edges of the retina.

I like them all for different reason but... In order of preference I'd probably say: 1. Open House 2. Are You The One? 3. I Kissed a Girl 4. Princess Charming Whichever you choose, I'll probably watch... why not all of them at some point?! Princess Charming was a difficult watch due to the language barrier and having to read the subtitles in order to understand what was going on. But I liked the plot.

7:02 here's the maths:) in the previous seasons, with 11 pairs, there are 11! (eleven factorial, i.e. 11×10×...×2×1) different combinations, only one of which is correct - if we assign to each woman, say, her man of choice, the first woman can pick out of any of the 11 men, then the second one can pick any of the remaining 10, and so on until the last woman is paired up with the last man remaining. so the chances of getting the combination right by just guessing are 1/11! ≈ one in 2.5 hundred million. here the number of combinations is 15!! (fifteen double-factorial, which is 15×13×11×...×3×1. so multiplying all the odd numbers up to 15) - because the first person can choose out of the 15 remaining people; then the next single person can choose anyone except themself and the previous pair, giving 13 choices; the next unpaired person has 11 choices (16 people-first pair-second pair-themself), and so on until the last two people remaining pair up. in the end we have 1/15!! ≈ one in 2 million, which is actually about 100 times *easier*. but this is just their chance of getting it on the first try, so just a first approximation. it's possible that Danny calculated the chance of getting it in any of the 10 tries, which is a lot harder to compute so I didn't bother to do it (basically it could be that there are fewer wrong combinations, but at the same time each try they get wrong they get less information out of it than in previous seasons, and so in the long run it's harder than previous seasons).
