The abrupt "We don't really have friends" cracked me up. I really didn't ever consider this but now that I think about it, most of the time when I have friends over, half of us end up slinking around the floor anyway. Sometimes we kind of huddle around the coffee table if we're playing board games but since they are so low set, it's easier just to sit on the floor next to them. And growing up in an incredibly hot climate, we'd all end up on the ground to cool off. Huh. I'm starting to unlock quite a lot of memories of sitting around the floor in the living room and even napping/sleeping on it. Also, it's just fun watching you move around your space!

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA I"m glad you enjoyed the video. And it's true, the more I think about it, it was the same with my friends growing up... being on the floor doing board games, or playing video games etc. We're just returning to our childhood hahahaha.

Re "The only furniture I want is things I can easily carry by myself" I moved a lot in the past so I have the exact same value 😂 I really dislike couches, mattresses, dining tables etc. Just the thought of carrying them makes me nervous, not to mention the fact that the first 2 usually not being very sanitary. (I also grew up in Japan where not having those things is kinda normal so it's a source of stress for me living in North America & living with someone who doesn't share the same value)

Yes! I got rid of the couch after a LONG time dithering about it. We have a huge Thai floor cushion and a Moroccan pouffe. Right now I have a compromise of my stationary desk set at 20" high low enough where I can sit on a balance ball at my computer which is much much easier on my poor little tailbone, or on a desk chair which is only 7 years old but already had completely lost it's spring. I have also worked on my laptop on a side table while sitting on the floor for many years and I used to think it was bad for my back, maybe the table is too high for my arms, but yes it definitely encourages me to change positions constantly. When I need to focus I take it to the kitchen table. Learning about others being Furniture Free is refreshing and now I realize my lifestyle is actually more healthy for the long-term. I also feel this will improve creativity and productivity. I think couches encourage doom-scrolling as I had a habit to do that on my couch. That's also very bad for vision.

If you are keeping the items and they have tags that say Do Not Remove This Tag, then you should remove the tags. If they have washing instructions, consider keeping the instructions in a safe place or scanning them. I am minimal. I lived without a sofa for eight months and then bought a really nice one but gave away my less-comfortable living room chair so I could stay minimal. If you have ever lived in a country home with ants, cockroaches, scorpions or other impossible-to-eradicate pests, you will want to get up off the floor! The struggle is REAL when you have these critters. Same advice with a bed. No more floor living for me. Everyone’s situation is different. It’s not just about body flexibility. Love your videos.

I hate tags! Always cut them off, even in my clothes. I have one couch and that is only because the living room is in the middle of my apartment so there would be nothing to lean on, no wall. You’d have to just sit up the whole time. I have no dining room table or chairs. I have a floor desk and sleep on a tatami mat and futon. One weird thing I did down size that is unique is my washing machine. My regular size washer broke after just 1 year and repair was going to cost more than a new washer. So I decided since that was washer number 2 in 3 years I would get the smaller more portable version. If washers are now built to break, like everything else, then I will buy a cheaper one. I get a 0.7cu ft portable black and decker. It still plugs into my washer line using just the cold water, but I can move it myself. It only weighs 50 pounds. It also works great! I don’t have a lot of clothes to wash at once and I’m small so I love it. As for a dryer, haven’t had one of those in 2 years. I just hang stuff up! LOVE the rings btw!

I actually get this because as a kid I was constantly on the floor due to parents laying on couches and too many kids for chairs! To sit on furniture kinda became a weird jungle gym toy lol.

Your gonna save so much money by not owning furniture, and space. The only thing im worried about is when i switch to the floor my apartment naturally get alot of bugs and is usually dusty from the ac i live in an apartment building. So im not actually sure if i can 100% switch to being on the floor. I also have pets, so if i eat on the floor...my food may not be safe 😂

I don’t actually own any furniture because I rent an apartment with furniture included (when I lived in my home country Uruguay I had furniture but not so much). However, this apartment I’m living in, here in Ireland came with much more pieces and I asked my landlord to take some away, so I just have the basics. TV……I haven’t had a TV for 11+ years. I don’t need it and I refuse to have one. Same for a laptop, I don’t have one and I don’t need one. For my personal use I just have my smartphone and my iPad. I have a desktop pc at home but is provided by my company so I can work from home. But I don’t count it because it’s not actually mine. For example if I quit my job I’ll have to return it 😂😂

Hi Natasha, love your videos! Have you considered blurring your kids faces in the videos you post? There are many stories of people who save images of other peoples kids to repost or use maliciously later, and also the amount of images you need to make deepfakes of someone else is declining all the time. Blurring or covering their faces/not show them is a really good way to protect your kids without detracting from your videos i think :)
