Thank you for saying something about The Dodo!! Its so frustrating and heartbreaking to see all these people who think they're doing something kind, knowing that it is ultimately often harmful to wildlife, and/or spreading misinformation
@NokoFace3 ай бұрын
It breaks my heart all of the stories about "We raised this crow as a baby and after a year decided it was time to say goodbye. But he still comes all the time. :)" when he's coming back because he's hungry and people in the comments on those videos don't understand that.
@patrickdix772Күн бұрын
If you find injured or "lost" wildlife, move it out of harms way (out of the sun, off the road, exc) and leave it alone. If it's truly injured or alone, call a professional. There's so many people who find fawns and think they're lost, when in reality the mom hid them to go and eat before coming back for them.

Important fact about owning chickens as pets; many cities have city ordinances making it illegal to own a rooster in that area. I'm not entirely sure the reasons, but I figured I would let others know in case they are interested in adopting pet chickens. I had a college roommate that grew up owning chickens in her family as they had more land and could give everything the chickens needed care-wise. My roommate told me that roosters are not allowed in the city she grew up in so her family could only have female chickens. They would give eggs away to family and friends because they had so many from their chickens. Edit: When chickens are born it can be nearly impossible to accurately tell the sex of the chick. Both the city ordinance issue and, people not wanting more chickens is why people will often try to re-home or "get rid of" roosters once they know they're male. It's not very nice to the roosters.
@michelleb27224 ай бұрын
I've always assumed it's because of noise! roosters are so loud
@Kaye09MNchick4 ай бұрын
@@michelleb2722 That could be. Or, it could be to limit the chicken population or, to limit the possibility of chicken fighting. I’m not sure why, but it’s good to know when looking to adopt.

In Japan's Zen Nippon Chick Sexing School you can do a qualification in how to spot the difference between hen and rooster chicks. Apparently, if you squeeze them the difference in bumps, ridges, protrusions / indentations can tell you which is which.

12:34 On the whole I like The Dodo, and they do contribute financially to organizations dedicated to the welfare of species besides our own, which is laudable … but I feel what you’re saying here. There are SO many sketchy videos online today, sometimes even on that channel, raising questions such as “Okay, so this video of a kitten being rescued … this dude just *happened* to be video-recording himself walking through trash piles when he happened upon an injured kitten, and this other dude just *happened* to be recording the median of a busy highway during rush hour for no reason when he spotted a puppy with a broken leg limping towards traffic … or are these assholes injuring these kittens and puppies and then staging these encounters for clicks and for ad money?” It’s that horrible law of unintended consequences: The Dodo may have begun with the best intentions, but I fear the kind of environment they’ve created may be causing just as much harm as good.
@UhOpheliaАй бұрын
They romanticize wild animals imprinting on humans, which is INCREDIBLY harmful.
@danopticonАй бұрын
I suppose I should add that it’s not The Dodo in particular which is at fault, or any single KZbin channel, but rather our broken capitalist economy itself, which creates asset inequality and poverty on a massive scale, places basic human needs behind a paywall - often an arbitrarily and prohibitively high paywall, at that - and then incentivizes individuals to eke out whatever assets they can on a completely amoral basis … or more accurately, puts the cart before the horse and says “what’s moral is to make money, so whatever makes you money is moral,” even if that’s breaking puppies’ legs and putting them in harm’s way so you can pretend-rescue them.
