Correct. It’s Covid and the irrational fear of terrorism. Until 9/11, there were very few restrictions on things. Remember the IRA threat, there were almost no restrictions on freedom. The cops wouldn’t bail you up for taking photos or using a trundle wheel. Now everyone is scared and the lower level staff make up all sorts invalid rules, and bosses are too scared to contradict or correct them.

There is no difference in a 'hazard' of a large trolley on wheels, a walking stick or crutches, or even a person with an assistance dog. You had a valid argument regarding if you had a white stick because you are partially sighted, discrimination. As for the security fool who says he can and has asked people to leave the store for no reason just because he wants too, an extended training course is needed for this fool, or termination of his employment, he shouldn't be allowed to discriminate as to who he doesn't like the look of without giving a good reason.

Brilliant, Reggie. Why are these people so upset about a frigging measuringwheel? One would think they are looking for problems.
A young newlywed couple wanted to join a church. The pastor told them, "We have special requirements for new parishioners. You must abstain from having sex for two weeks." The couple agreed and came back at the end of two weeks. The pastor asked them, "Well, were you able to get through the two weeks without being intimate?" "Pastor, I'm afraid we were not able to go without sex for the two weeks," the young man replied. "What happened?" inquired the pastor. "My wife was reaching for a can of corn on the top shelf and dropped it. When she bent over to pick it up, I was over come with lust and took advantage of her right there." "You understand, of course, that this means you will not be welcome in our church," stated the pastor. "That's okay," said the young man. "We're not welcome at ASDAs too.

After 17 years as a supermarket store manager I find this video both hilarious and terribly troubling! we measure everything, how longs the queue, how fast are the operators scanning, how many customers are using the self scans, how many customers have a loyalty card, how long did it take to unload the lorry, how many cases of stock did the assistant put out an hour... its endless, measures after measures, yet they are offended by a customer with a measuring wheel causing no harm? - I would be disgusted if my team behaved like that. in fact I'm compelled to go in on my day off in a wig and try it out!

@@SwampieMusic One is very safe = The measuring stick. One is not that safe = The Asda trolley. Co-op have the safest trolleys by a mile, as the go exactly where you want them to go. Morrisons have the second best trolleys. Tesco next. And Asda last. Why are Asda trolleys unsafe? Because they have trackers around the wheels, which make them go in random directions occasionally, when they catch on the wheels.

They can ask anyone to leave, they don’t need a reason, however, if the reason is based on any of the nine protected characteristics, then you could take legal action for discrimination. Discrimination on the grounds of you having ADHD and them not tolerating your medical condition. It's also one where there may well be an undisclosed obsessive (medical) condition that would lead someone to walking with a measuring stick - which they are discriminating against. Someone on the autism spectrum may also well be the sort that would walk around with a measuring stick. The trip hazard stuff was complete illogical emotional nonsense. And that right there is the epitomy of unprofessional behaviour by the staff at that store. Enforcing rules that they've made up on the spot on the basis of their personal feelings and lack of tolerance. The anti discrimination laws are designed to stop Nazi (1930's) style intolerance and denial of service on the basis of sexual preference, gender, religious views, medical conditions. And what we had here was a 1930's Germany style denial of service on the basis of an apparent combination of medical conditions.
