I don’t understand the hate, double hit allows better dives and chases. Sure the damage is a bit worse but the mobility brought by double is good. I like double hit a lot more because it has a higher skill ceiling

TL; DR at the bottom btw. Alright, so before I converted to a Blaziken cult member, I actually did the solo queue climb with Scizor during the Mewtwo Y meta - perhaps I’m a masochist, but I mainly wanted to get that out of the way just so I can say that I do know what I’m on about here. - First off, Scizor is a brawler, so you really shouldn’t be using Double Hit which mainly helps Scyther dive across backlines and quickly reposition anyway, but this is purely ideological. - Scizor’s main gameplan is naturally to spam the shit out of Bullet Punch, and with a cooldown decrease on the boosted variant, your Bullet Punch resets save you a grand total of…2 seconds. You reset the dash at least, but this is inherently far less valuable than resetting your two part 20% missing health execute that you can use to clean house and the dash. - Scizor’s attack stat is…not great. She’s tied with Tsareena for the 6th lowest attack of any All Rounder, and unlike the other all rounders, she doesn’t have the benefit of high scalings. This means she needs all the damage she can get, especially as her healing scales off her attack stat. As such, giving up Swords Dance lowers your overall damage output and healing - two things that Scizor does not need less of - The benefits of Double Hit are also widely overblown as well. For the most part, the stuff you’d want to use Double Hit to catch will almost certainly still kite you hard with Double Hit (things like your Delphoxes, Mewtwo Ys) and the stuff you’d be able to catch after running Double Hit, not only could you have caught them with Swords Dance anyway, but you’re gonna be more at risk for because you’ve given up the damage you’d have got from a Swords Dance boosted BP/Unite. - In essence, because you give up melee damage in exchange for dubiously effective ability to catch ranged Pokemon who still counter you anyway, running Double Hit is effectively like trying to run a speed build on a slow tank in Fire Emblem Heroes - Can it work? Kinda. Should it work? Not really. Should you use something else? Yeah. TL;DR - Scizor doesn’t benefit from the resets, the longer dash doesn’t really help it close the gap on matchups that matter, and it makes the up close brawling worse because you lose damage and healing by giving up the free attack boost. I do also want to add, that most people who main Scizor don’t think Double Hit is good either. If you’re at the point where you’re advocating playing Double Hit Scizor, you should really be advocating them to play Scyther instead.

⁠@@GokuSolosFictionCopeI did. Scizor already gets a heavy cooldown reduction on Bullet Punch so you reset your dash and save yourself 2s on Bullet Punch. This just isn’t that valuable when you can’t get consistent resets either because of the low attack and relatively poor scaling. It works well with Scyther cause you reset everything and get a 20% HP execute.

Scizor's second move choice is and has always been very dependent on the enemy's team comp. Swords Dance is better against brawler enemies, and Double Hit is better if there's a lot of ranged attackers and slippery mons. Right now, with the amount of slippery mons and ranged attackers, Double Hit is almost always the better pick.

Also if you have a really slow mimikyu, and you have fast reaction, you can dodge the play rough dash if you’re quick enough

You’re still not catching Mew even with Double Hit lol, and you can still catch Inteleon and Decidueye just fine with Swords Dance

Mew is not that easy to catch, a mew with 2 brain cells would change to surf or agility easily, inteleon is a bit easier and finally decidueye, well is decidueye

I'm glad you convinced me to use Double Hit on Scizor months ago. The mobility is just vastly superior to Swords Dance, I think its worth way more than the attack boost given you get kited so easily otherwise. This allows you to chase enemies so much better, and have better escape too.

This build minus the full heal for a potion has been what I’ve been playing a lot of recently when my team needs an all rounder. Especially after learning the tech where u just press bullet punch immediately after double hit so that u can still get that chase from double hit. To me def underrated build

I feel like with the nerfs to Lapras, Slowbro and Eldegoss, the buff to Glaceon and Inteleon still being absurd we’ve moved to a more frail SoloQ meta overall, where you don’t really need the damage from Swords Dance ad much and can easily go Double Hit for extra mobility

Love both sets and Scizor is one of my top 3 most used Pokémon currently. But ever since SD got nerfed because of Scyther being a menace, I've focused way more on DH. DH gives you a deceptively good gap closure especially on 13. It's not just the dash, but the fact that you can cancel mid-jump to your bullet punch and it procs the DH effect on all enemies hit when timed just right. Combine that with the DH boosted attack and you cover a lot of ground to pursue your target with a single combo. That's not even counting the cd reduction on BP and the Unite. SD is definitely still a valid option though especially when you're fighting a bulkier front-line, or if the game doesn't need you to gank them from behind due to having a good assassin or the enemy's back-line not being a threat. I'm just mainly glad that my set doesn't rely on one moveset entirely so I can freely choose SD or DH depending on the circumstances since the game still doesn't let us save multiple item sets in character select and choosing different items/emblems for moves can be a hassle especially when you have loading issues.

I also play double hit. Because i usually kill the soft back liner first and by using double hit, you can easilly get them. But if you are a brawler type, then sword dance may be the better build.

Scizor is one of my favorite all rounders! Bullet punch and double hit is a fun combo and how I got my 5ko achievements lol on the one quick match maps I ended up with a 14 ko streak using this combo lol

I have a question. So today i faced a scizor in ranked. I was running venu with spoon, incense, and amp. We were fighting it and i was hitting it with beams and even dead on with my ult while it was being hindered by slowbro and being hit by my team. The problem is it wouldnt die. It stayed at what looked like 1 hit but nothing would kill the bastard. Even with my anti healing, it felt like nothing was doing anything at all. It felt bugged. Bro u got me into unite and Urshifu is the 1st one i bought the black emblems and energy amp is genius because normally you sometimes have this like 2 sec window where you don't have anything to press and this built fixes that.

I do think both have their strengths and weaknesses. Double Hit works against Fragile or balanced comps. Probably not the greatest against Bulky Comps. Swords Dance allows you to have more power on Bullet Punch and also having a boosted punch upon use. However this gives a disadvantage of less of a diver, more of an offensive brawler.

I saw this sort of thing said on a “bad advice you heard” thread, which is like, what? Double Hit has more chase and can escape easier. It’s not a bad move set, but Scizor is a very flexible mon that can use both Swords Dance and Double Hit effectively. They aren’t mutually exclusive to Scyther and Scizor.

There is 1.24% winrate different between Swords Dance and Double Hit. Similarly, there is 1.4% winrate difference between Aegi's Wide Guard with Claw vs Iron Head. I feel that's another moveset people view as much worse but it's actually not.

I really think double hit is better as it gives more mobility. Honestly I've played both movesets and I double hit is way more fun to use. The moveset you should choose depends on the enemy pokemon. If there more tanky pokemon, then swords dance is better while if there are more attackers and speedsters you may go for double hit.

TIMI needs to change something about the tanks, they are not interesting to play and it's terribly hard to get a tank into the team on soloq. This is probs aimed at me, but I’ll say that I’m fully aware Scizor is trash. It’s more that this isn’t a build most people will be able to make work because it’s like running a speed build on a slow tank in Fire Emblem. People will say “pick depending on team comp” but in reality, if you’re picking depending on team comp, you should just be running Amp/Razor/Weight and switching between Scyther and Scizor rather than trying to turn the anti-physical brawler into some kind of assassin/brawler hybrid that doesn’t really do either well.

Don't listen to them. Being locked into " best move" is what made me lose. I got 2 SNIPERS that choose not to be snipers. The enemy choose to be a sniper! I played scizor and they have clefable hard countering me( it chases me down too)! My only choice was to rely on them but all that waisted on their poor choices! It was so sad to see in 2 minutes mark. Free shot with no punish while they stand their doing nothing . . .

As someone who likes scizor i know double hit is way better i think people think its better because during the goodra and lapras meta it could give much more dmg and sustain but now with mew, inteleon, and lots of mobility its not worth it

I'm on a discord server for people who want to practice for championships. They made fun of me for using double hit. But this season I'm sitting at 133 matches with him and 64% WR. I'm ok with that 🤷. Melee characters now either need to be super tanky or they need to have long dashes to be able to get the squishy back liners.

My poor boy has the lowest winrate! Please buff Scizor! Even though Scyther is the problem! Also you should try Resonant Guard on Scizor! It's pretty good! Also yes, Double Hit is better. has Swords Dance ever wiped a full team behind their speed flux zone? No. Has Swords Dance ever escaped a Talonflame and/or Dodrio and/or Absol through their Ideedees AND turned the fight back around on them? No! Please don't be toxic to people who are better than you at the game. I'm sorry the crazy cool, team wiping, backline infiltrating, pop off inducing, high skill ceiling combo move is better at carrying and team fighting than the ooga booga attack steroid move. (Ok, maybe Swords Dance is a bit more than that, but you get the point!)
