Nobody needs a Bronze-age book and weekly meetings to be a decent person who contributes to human flourishing. You're not horrible just because you were born. You're not going to a hell. And if you think there is a hell, what does that even say about the character of your god? Because that hell is HIS, not some "devil's". The purpose of life is LIVING, to experience the wonder, the amazing cycles of life, the terrifyingly beautiful vistas. You can't do that if you're worried ALL THE TIME that you are going to BEHAVE HUMAN.
