I'd say very good for a free PC. Hopefully you will be able to upgrade it, specially the ram. Keep up the good work.

Ooh a new video, yay!

I don't see an Alienware pc in this video, just a custom build in a old NZXT Apollo ATX case that used random retail parts. Alienware pc's were fairly specific builds that used certain OEM parts, and they used fairly distinct cases back then that did not have windowed side panels. Regardless of that, always a nice find when its free.

I just realized there was no Alienware branding, I really don’t know what made me think it was one so much it makes sense why the bios is unlocked then it would be locked o n a prebuilt
@TheOldGodFX4 ай бұрын
@@Tech86807 You might be able to upgrade the board to a Q9650 or pin modded Xeon e5450 if there is a custom bios available. If so, that will gain you better performance and more instruction sets letting you play some slightly more modern titles on it. If you can, a good match on the cheap would be a GTX 750 Ti, since that can gain you some modern driver support.

its funny to see how these older overlyhyped alienware PC's are really the best for converting into decent office pcs or smth for your kid to play a couple of lower spec games on. for my aunt i swapped out the PSU for a 550w new one, redid thermal paste, and a deep cleaning. works great for her since all she does is play facebook games and watch netflix. installed win10 LTSC and it runs like butter

Phenom II at equal clocks is technically better assuming the ram suport is equal. Slightly better IPC (and one of the few times AMD has the better one for the time). Highest end motherboards support DDR3 (not certain if limited to 8 or at most 16 GB though), But DDR2 tops out at a total 0f 8GB per cpu (771 Xeons can exceed the total with multiple processors). And 1066 mhz is top ddr2 stock speed ram

These motherboards tend to run rather hot on the chipset & with their age it gets more important too service as well. So do repaste it if you are going to use it for long or with repeated showing on the channel imo.

I will download something to show my the temps of the chipset.

@@Tech86807 Hwmonitor I'd imagine should have motherboard sensors. One of the Tmpin sensors, if one of them are stuck at like 127c it's a non existent temperature sensor that a higher end version of that motherboard has but yours doesn't most likely.

@@Mini-z1994 Can confirm that random like 127c sensor on the 790i Ultra SLI. Haven't turned it on in a few years, but distinctly remember that. lol

I get why stock intel coolers used that mounting design for ages. Its incredibly fucking cheap. I'll never understand why aftermarket coolers used it though, because aftermarket coolers need to be installed, and actually removing and installing that mounting system is horrible. My only guess is it was so the motherboard wouldn't need to be removed to add a backplate.

ur stuck with 3 gb because your windows is 32 bit. pretty sure your cpu is 64 bit so you might be able to install a 64 bit os and add more ram. just dunno abt drivers. there is a way to break the 3 gb barrier but its beyond my tiny brain lmao
