How did it "kill" the engine? The engine is fine aside from the alt and temp sensor. Or, did you overheat and then kill the engine? How did the bolts being in front to rear vs rear to front cause the belt to fail? I'm confused. It appears as though that's the wrong belt and or that alt was installed out of alignment. Where is the belt wearing?

Swapping out an alternator is maybe a 30 minute basic DIY repair. If you can't get in there to do it yourself, consider dropping some weight.

I'd brakleen that rubber off the front (make sure you ventilate well) and paint up that rusty stuff going on there. Otherwise the paint comes off in chips and clogs the bilge pumps. Ask me how I know...

Almost looks like the bolt on the dampener is off center. Might be an optical illusion from that angle. But if it is off center, it would do that to those belts.
