That's pretty normal for events. Lots of people at convention have issues with that exact thing and get talked to by organizers. It sucks but it's how it goes. It's also has good intentions behind it. The other booths payed to be there and have their spot. Your crowd blocks those booths then they don't get what they payed for because as he said people could go through the crowd but they probably would just keep walking and not bother.

First of all, the only thing that's relevant here is that it's a PRIVATE venue so the organizer had every right to make up whatever rules for photography he wants to enforce. Everything in regards to new GDPR laws etc. is only relevant in PUBLIC space. Fortunately, as has been confirmed by several courts already, for public photography, GDPR doesn't really change anythjng: - You can still photograph everyone you wish, as long as they're not singled out but part of a "greater work", so in street photography, that's generally referring to the overall street scene. Oversimplified, you're only prohibited from taking portraits. - People have the right to not be photographed. To ensure the continuation of public photography, it has been established that as soon as people ask you not to take their photograph, you can't produce images which include them, even if they're not the main focus. - The main thing people have been confusing for decades now is that you _CAN_ photograph a scene without asking people but what you _CANNOT_ do is publish those photographs online, in a magazine, a book or TV, just to name some examples. You need a release form from everyone in that image first. _BUT_ as courts have ruled, even without a release, if the image is of greater artistic value, that's more important than the individual's right to privacy, so you can still publicize those pictures and use them commercially. Journalistic work would not be possible anymore with what you're describing. The law doesn't differentiate between someone who arbitrarily got assigned a press pass and one who didn't, though. So you need a general ruling, and that's complicated. Your literal statement, horribly generalized, is factually wrong. Who would have guessed that the law is nuanced and not black and white? Crazy thing. But again, since we're talking about a *private venue,* none of this matters. It's house rules only there.

Just by coincidence, this happened to another KZbinr at an expo in California (I think...) earlier this year. Snake Discovery was mobbed at their table, due to their following, and it caused problems. Solution? The organisers helped them relocate their table so as not to interfere with other exhibitors. Now that's class! 😁😘

yeh i saw that too, it caused problems but it was not their fault at all so the organisers got them a better area so they didnt block aisles with their fans. no youtuber with any humility wants to apply to go to an expo and tell the organiser "im a very important youtuber and my fans are so many you will not be able to handle them." its an organisers job to try to have a workaround for any eventualityso really the blame does fall on them. If your expo is great big names are going to come, youtubers are going to come, really popular breeders are going to come and thats a credit to how good your expo is. you need to have a few side rooms or larger stalls waiting in case this sort of thing happens. then you can ask the person whose fans are blocking the aisle if they can move into their own room or into an area with more space away from the other stalls. it might be no ones fans turn up or no one famous turns up and you dont need to use that plan but having it there in case is key and should be common sense to impliment. to ban someone for this is stupid, so what if they had a missunderstanding and he thought petko was comercial and petko thought he was private, the only difference is the fee paid and petko paid the higher fee so what is his problem, no lie was told petko just messaged to clarify something from his perspective and upon recieving that message the organiser should have sent clear rules about what they concider comercial or private and asked him to email to confirm wich he was by their rules. as for selfies in the venu they asked him to stop and he did so why the problem. it is very rude and unprofessional and to then go on to bash him publicly even without his name. fans would have seen what was happening at the expo and figured out who he was talking about then it would have spread till everyone knew.

It was my first time in Hamm and I was really happy to be able to meet you! Even after hours of talking to people you were super super welcoming and took your time to talk to me. It's really sad to see how narrow minded some people are... Probably you were the first "KZbin celebrity" to visit Hamm and it just didnt fit in their concept. They could just work with you and make some other arrangements for when you eventually visit again - you mentioned that you might potentially return at least once a year, which I thought was terrific. But even though they manage to organize quite a large expo mutliple times a year, they lack some serious people skills. Sad to think we won't see you once every while here in Germany, it makes me wonder if I will want to go there again and pay 15€ to a guy who appearently treats other people like s*. Sorry this has ended with some bad experience for you Petko!

As someone who married into a German family and has lived here for 5 years, being passive aggressive is annoyingly common here. As an invert event organiser myself, I honestly can’t believe what I’m hearing!! That whole thing was driven by ego and jealousy, I can’t think of any other reason for behaving in such a way!! He doesn’t realise it yet, but his behaviour will impact him and his future way more than it will yours!! And in 2023, what kind of event bans photography and videography? A lot of animals get sold and bought at Hamm, all sorts of exotics. With the rising objections to keeping exotics and organisations using photos and films taken at events such as these. I think it’s ridiculous to ban photos/filming at the event altogether. Instead they could do something about the actually shitty stuff going on at such events and tighten the rules. There are exotic species that are not fit to spend the day on a table at a busy event with thousands of strangers.

They are right on this. The vegans have a long-term opposition to the expo and are trying to misrepresent it by using photo and video evidence in a fraudulent way. Everyone has the right to ban recording at his event. It is 2023 am governments still ban recording from sensitive areas, and there is a reason for that. Museums ban recording for other reasons. Parties with adult entertainment ban recording for other reasons. Reptile expos ban or should have banned recording for their own valid reasons. Part of being an adult is also being able to recognize that you have enemies and be able to judge when it is fine to expose yourself and when not. Sadly transparency is not for everyone.

In my experience, if pictures aren't allowed in a big open EXPO (exposition), then it means there are illegal items or practices. Also, if you are charged as a business and don't ask for a refund, then it seems petty for the organizer to punish you for over-paying for their mistake. Since you already paid the business fee, then the only thing they should have said was "We understand a mistake was made. Your status of private was incorrect. It seems however, that you have already been charged and we have adjusted your status to business. Please register as business in the future."

Theres no videos etc allowed as to stop anti-pet types like Peta etc spreading their propaganda videos of snakes and lizards being stuck in tiny boxes for hours on peoples tables. Just because theres videos allowed at US pet conventions doesn't mean they'll be allowed in Europe. To be honest i've seen plenty of practices that could be done without in US reptile videos like animals that aren't for sale in completely clear boxes for hours on end sometimes over a weekend and just for them to be shown off, where they could be left at home, no stress needed and just have a picture of them on the stall to show what you might have available etc apart from the livestock you're actually selling.

No. Ridiculous organisers response aside, rules about not taking photos and videos are in place, because of zealous, self-proclaimed environmental activists, who misrepresent and misconstrue the way the animals are kept during the show (so supposedly “small” transport enclosures, dangerous snakes with the untrue implication that the children can buy them, or showing gravely endangered species in context of smuggling- even though the specimen presented on the photos, are well documented and legal). And these are perfectly fine in-good-faith rules, which were misused here.

By definition they are bad actors by intent (to speak nothing of their message) they do not care if they get banned and everyone has a phone with a high quality camera. In a lot of cases those rules might also be enforced not by the organizer but by the owner of the building the expo is taking place in. I've took videos on some expos without issues but got told to stop on others so I inquired about it the first time it happened. The security then told me it's the building owner's regulation and not something the expo put in place.

I live in Austria and I am fluent in german, read this guys facebook post myself because the translation hides one important thing. His arrogance. There is a new post where he lists everything again and immediately contradicts himself by saying "I did not name any names" and then one of the last points literally mentions Petko. Read through more posts to get a better image (also the screenshots of the messages from the video add to it) and the more I read the more it confirmed that they feel like they have some sense of authority or feel more important than anyone else just because they are the organizator. Also the no photo or video rule seems very stupid? I am not working with animals or have any pets but I doubt it'd bother them? So this must be a rule against youtubers, again, in their list of points they mentioned they have nothing against youtubers, why would you mention it if it wasn't evident already. Petko did nothing wrong and if this person was one bit professional they would have talked to him and cleared up the confusion and told Petko which table to get next time, hell he even paid for the business table but they banned him straight up. I tell you it must be the arrogance and perhaps even jealousy that so many showed up at Petkos table and took photos. Their messages to Petko proves this as well. Massive boomer energy.

I spent years as a customer relations manager and have dealt with hundreds of different personalities over the years, and I can tell you one thing: the entire exchange with the organizer was not about the expo or any of its rules or regulations. As you already guessed, it was about his ego and narcissism. I've dealt with people like him before, and believe me, there is nothing you can do to convince him that he's in the wrong. No i think its because you dont understand certain social situations. petkos business overcrowded the non commercial area and on this very video Petko blames the Hamm organisers for it.... im a long time subscriber seen several versions of the dark den but you have to see that Petko looks in the wrong here

Even if you think he was in the wrong for overcrowding (which is debatable), the organizer handled things in a ridiculously unprofessional way. This easily could've been cleared up with a simple conversation.

And as some who's been to conventions all over the world, GamesCom, Tokyo Game show, E3, Reptile expos; overcrowded halls and events floors are to be managed by event staff i.e. the workers help running the expo.

This is such a shame. The only thing i can imagine that would explain the situation is a taxes situation. That they have to give away more taxes, when it's a company table. And if they don't control that, they are part of a tax fraud. And we have a saying which describes the lawsystem pretty good: "unknowingness doesn't safe you from being fined (rough translation) However, that's no reason to be that disrespectful and mean. You are from a different country and German law is really confusing. It's a misunderstanding and it happens. If not the money but just the "lying" was the problem, they could have just asked and clarified it. The reason they're so petty about pictures taken there is because of activists that try to get the expo closed for the past couple of years. They have really big struggles with that. Still, security was nice and you followed the rules afterwards. I can confirm, met you afterwards and you were so nice about it but denied taking a picture. And the amount of people was something the organizers are there for. They could have just come to you and told you that the next time they would place you at a place where there's more space due to the amout of people. I'm really sorry you had to experience that. My Dad and I met you and we were so excited. Once we returned home, we told my mom 30 minutes long how nice and chill you were. I was really excited to maybe one day meet you again. Unfortunately, probably not gonna happen due to that drama. You did nothing wrong imo. You were so nice and just did what you thought was right. Such a bummer they were so petty and mean about it. However, to say something about the rest of the video, I wish you a lot of fun with the h.dictator. I've got one in a mystery box and it's crazy. Ran up my dads arm one time while feeding. Both were fine tho!
