I think you did the right thing. I used to work at Hersheypark and hated when guests pulled the "I'm a season pass holder" gag. I say just because your a season pass holder, that doesn't give you the right to film a coaster when the parks says you can't. Pass holders need to follow the rules like everyone else. Rules are for everyone regardless. One a side note, I visited Carowinds for the first time this Summer and Fury 325 was my 100th credit, and my ride was in the very front.

If she had gotten in trouble and you hadn't said anything, they could have even accused you of trying to help her hide the fact that she had her phone out. It's happened to me before, and it is NOT fun trying to explain to the ride ops that you don't even know who the person next to you is. Some people just try to pick fights because they KNOW they're doing the wrong thing and they want it to be someone else's fault. Sorry you had this experience but good for you, Taylor! 👍🏻😊

As a ride operator, I can say that behavior ANYTHING similar that woman is an immediate call for security and potential removal from the park. I work at Kings Island, so obviously not Carowinds, but as sister parks we share the same policies... For example, if you are seen with a phone out while the train leaves the station, an operator will literally stop the train on the lift, confiscate it, and return it after the ride. We don't do it to irritate people, it's just part of our job. EDIT: Yes you did the right thing :) (that's the end of my rant lol)

We all heard about the TT issue and were talking twice the speed on Fury. Everyone else’s safety is more important than her filming/social media/whatever. And I don’t care how many times you’ve done it, it only takes one slip to severely injure someone.

The ride operator got on the intercom and said something along the lines of, “ This ride was first opened in 1920. The first cell phones didn’t exist until the 1980s. Act like we are in 1920 and keep your phone away.” The entire train was laughing, and the woman put the phone away, seemingly somewhat embarrassed.

There's something about that park. In April, I took Andrew on his first Intimidator ride and a teen had his phone out taking selfies just in front of me. I suggested that he put it away since people get hit in the face all of the time and get injured. On the break run, he told me I needed to live a little and if I had a problem with it, I could meet him in the parking lot. I said sure, I'll fight a minor while watching my two boys for something you did that is wreckless! Fun times in Carolina! Reece and Clint are great additions!

I've had to hold dispatches many times just to tell guests to put their cell phones away, and sometimes multiple times on the same train. You were doing the right thing looking out for her and other people's safety, and not only that, prevented her from filming an illegal POV. If something like that happened at Kings Island, we would call security immediately and confiscate their phone or have them kicked out if they refuse to cooperate. I applaud you, Taylor! You absolutely did the right and responsible thing. I was at Dollywood waiting on Drop Line when a rider got their phone out as the ride was ascending. The operators saw it, stopped the ride and brought it back down until the phone was put away. And they watched carefully to make sure the rider didn't get it back out again. I made a comment to one of the operators about people never learning with cell phones on rides and she told me that someone had their phone out on Lightning Rod earlier this year, lost it, and it flew back to hit a rider behind them in the face and broke their nose. I had noticed that the Lightning Rod crew were very adamant about loose objects this year and now I know the reason. And I miss Lightning Rod. I really wish that RMC and Dollywood would stop whatever quarrel they are having and get that thing fixed. It has been down over a month now. It is my home park and I was there yesterday. It just ain't the same without a ride on it to finish my day. :(

Great video of an awesome park! You definitely did the right thing you're looking out for her as well as the safety of everyone on the train. it's disappointing that the ride Ops didn't do anything about it. At Cedar Point if they see someone with their phone out they stop The ride and go take the phone from them. At Kings Island I was on the Beast and someone had their phone out the ride ops made an announcement over the speaker to put their phone away. So I've never seen a ride operator not do anything when that happens.

Main topic aside, I am completely with Taylor on front seat for Fury. Rode it in the back last week once and then rode it about 20 times in the front, never looking back. The only thing that's better in the back is the first drop. The wind in your face is incredible, you get shoved up into those quick overbanks, and the airtime near the end is great anyway. Oh, and it's a lot smoother.

You did the right thing. That phone could've escaped her grip and smashed somebody behind you guys right in the head. And at that speed, it wouldn't have been pretty. Thanks for trying to keep people safe. Unfortunately, some people have a complete lack of common sense and just can't be reasoned with.

I went to Magic Mountain the other week and my friends and I were about to ride Twisted Colossus. All of sudden I hear a little 12 or 13ish girl scream bloody murder. At first, we thought she got hurt or she got a panic attack on the ride. No. She took her phone out on the ride despite operators telling her to put it in the pouch and she lost it. She was swearing and cursing, her mom was screaming, and her little sister was crying. I think her mom was feeding into it and screaming about getting her daughter's phone back and then the girl comes up to one of the ride operators and smacks her. No joke, she smacks her. We were all like WTF. The mom shut up then and shyly said sorry as she took her daughters away. After we got off the ride we see the brat by the entrance sitting in the corner playing with what is presumably her mom's phone. Not crying anymore but on social media while her sister is still light sobbing and her mom is sorting everything out with one of the staff. So. Stupid.

I was on Grizzly at Kings Dominion a few weeks ago and we were in the back seat. Two seats in front of us someone had there phone out filming and the seat in behind them someone was SMOKING A CIGARETTE! I was just hopping I would get off the ride safley at this point but after we got into the station and were walking off the ride they weren't following us. I'm hopping they got caught but I have no idea what was up with them. They seemed to all be friends and I was just glad we didn't see them for the rest of the day. Now because off this I had a bad experience on Grizzly when it might not have been so bad if that wouldn't of happened. Anyway, I do think you did the right Taylor and it's nice to know that there are good people in this world. Hopefully this doesn't happen again lol.

Cell phones on coasters are no joke. We were at Dollywood earlier this year and were in line for Lightning Rod. We saw a lady come back into the station with her face all bloody. Someone in a row ahead of her had their phone out and lost it on the ride and it hit the lady square in the face at 77 mph. PUT YOUR PHONES AWAY ON RIDES!!!

Xanlza At Dollywood a few weeks ago, I was in line for wild eagle, and they were sort of talking behind my back saying look at this little kid (I'm not even little) he's gonna a be SO scared! He's gonna scream. Rode with one of the people in the group. I kept a straight face the entire time while they were acting as if they were in the twin towers on 9/11. They looked pretty embarrassed coming off XD

The other issue is the safety of the riders behind her. Steel Vengeance had to adopt the no phone policy because of people getting hit in the face by flying devices. I think you did the right thing.

You did fine, she was just crazy. Maybe the season pass benefits are different at Carowinds than at my home park, but I'm pretty sure "film your own crummy vertical POVs" isn't one of them. By having her phone out, she was putting herself at risk of being kicked out of the park, as well as putting random, innocent park-goers at risk of getting hit if she dropped it. The only people who might've done anything wrong would probably be the ride ops for assuming she wouldn't take her phone back out

You did the right thing. If she would have gotten me stuck on the lift hill of that ride that'd be an automatic fight in the parking lot.

You did the right thing. If she lost her phone, it could’ve caused serious injury to someone behind her. This almost happened to me and my aunt a few years ago on El Toro. A few rows in front of me, someone’s phone went flying out of their hand. However my aunt somehow caught it before it could hit me or anyone else, and she gave it back to the owner when we hit the brakes. I’ve also seen people lose their phones on Nitro multiple times Obviously Great Adventure is much stricter about loose articles (as they are known for their crazy policies). If she even tried to do this there (let’s use Nitro as an example), she would immediately be kicked out of the park. However, that is if she could even get her phone past the ride entrance first

I used to work on Wild Eagle and this was a constant thing. If they didn’t put their phone away we would stop them once the ride ended and warn them that they would be permanently banned from the park if they did it again. One guy immediately rode again and brought his phone back out. Needless to say he had security waiting at the exit and was exported out.

I think you did the right thing. Next time you see something suspicious say something to park officials and they’ll take care of the situations shall they arise.

I remember when I was riding Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park, these 2 teenagers behind me were flicking my head the whole ride, making it even more unenjoyable than it already was. People can be stupid.

One time in 2016 my sixth grade quoir group went to Californias Great America. We were in line for a rapids ride, when we were at a point in the line to where you could see the rides scenery. Well, a girl in my group looked at it, when a high school student behind us started yelling at her, saying “why are you staring at me?” The girl told her she was looking at the ride, then the high schooler started cussing at her. The girl started to cry. Even the people in the students group told her to lay off. Gotta love crazy people. 🙄

Very interesting. Have a nice day now. Let her try to do the at Six Flags Great Adventure. She would be dealt with swiftly for sure. That park is great but very strict on phones on rides.
