I work with Tom and Nick (Tom's brother), the level of thinking that has gone into the concept of these clubs is through the roof, these clubs are literally designed based on how people swing the club, and how the physics of the swing and ball impact actually work. Speaking to Tom is like entering the golf matrix! I'm getting fitted soon, and can't wait. Looking forward to watching the other videos from this fitting.

Only could dream of having such a fitting. Would love to play avoda irons but there’s no one in the UK to get fitted for them and having a experience like this.

I’m sure there will be fitting options in the UK very soon… keep looking on the Avoda site as fitting facilities are added weekly!

This is great. Look forward to the rest! I did a remote fitting by talking through a variety of things with a guy in their Pittsburgh location. Ended up with 3 up, much lighter (but still Stiff) graphite shaft, combo length, much larger grip than I’ve had. Still getting used to it all. Many changes at once but they feel pretty amazing. But I really should take them in for a full in-person fitting.
@andrewjensengolf9 күн бұрын
Thanks Jim! Yeah, the next part: shaft & grip really got interesting on getting the correct overall weight (not simply relying on shaft weight)
@JimSchneck9 күн бұрын
@ I agree. I went with a much lighter shaft (80 G KBS TGI stiff), when originally I wanted to move from a 105 to a 120, based on liking that weight with some friends’ clubs. But with the jumbomax tour XS grip, it doesn’t feel light at all. The grip is almost 40 grams heavier than the GolfPride MCC plus 4 I was playing. So in total, the shaft is a good deal heavier. But with the weight on the grip end, it feels like it whips through the ball quicker.

Did you order the single length or std? What shafts? Any feedback on the clubhead feel and ball flight? Asking bc I’m in SF and tempted to go to Madera. Thx.

@ clubs feel very good better than my zx7’s. Ball flight was on par with my current gamers. Went combo length couldn’t commit to single length yet. Clubs are gorgeous in person

That is certainly very eye opening. And I never really trusted that board during fittings. I'm always flat but then I notice most of my shots are more toe down, thus the over draws. GO PENS!!!
@MissedtheCut10 күн бұрын
Love it, I just recently went to a 68 degree lie angle and the ground interaction was shocking. I had always been 2 ish degrees up from standard. I can always tell when a club is flat because it feels horrible. Mike Adams swing bio machanics made me think maybe in more upright could be even better.

Very interesting seeing a bias on lie angle. I have always felt lie angle plays a bigger role in club fitting than it is given credit for. I'm a tinkerer and have all the club building tools and build and fit my own clubs and I have played around with lie angles a lot and it makes a huge difference. Awesome video and I look forward to the second installment.
@alexanderchung4049 күн бұрын
Just came across this video, very interesting take on lie angles and I have always felt that lie angles being the last thing to check at the end of a fit was a bit strange and also off a lie board was always up for inconsistencies.
@Joker-yh2xg11 күн бұрын
Awesome video. That would have been awesome to have that level of fitting. My combo length just arrived last weekend. They feel so solid.

Would you recommend these or the sub70 SL for a mid to high handicap?
@benspeer17527 күн бұрын
Wouldn’t it make more sense to fit shaft first then lie angle since shafts have different deflection and droop characteristics?

So many people need a big reset on lie angles. Then go and work it back to target. Correct lie angles is going to get flusher more slid contact lined up with the target.

Very interesting video with a lot of information. I'm curious, I've watched quite a few of your videos over the years (apologies for not being subscribed, I truly thought I was) & trust your insight in to your own swing. I've had a Mevo Plus for over 4 years & noticed he was fitting you with one. Did you happen to pay attention to club path readings & if so, were they consistent with what you're used to seeing? Anyways, great video & looking forward to episode 2
@andrewjensengolf9 күн бұрын
I’ve had the Mevo+ since day 1 and it’s a fantastic unit and very reliable, I trust Tom would agree. As for the data, path, etc: we didn’t discuss that at all. A great fitter will keep those numbers to themselves and let the player focus on the shots alone, not getting swayed by data from club to club. I didn’t even ask about any of it during the fit, I just wanted to make good swings and trust him to handle all the rest based on what he was seeing!
@ScratchWhoShoots80s9 күн бұрын
@andrewjensengolf copy that. Thanks for the reply
@everardogolf11 күн бұрын
I agree with lie angle being very important but not primary. I’ve proven my own fittings of customers, and I’ve seen proof from other fitters that a different shaft could change lateral deflection and thereby changing light angle at impact so at least based in my experience, I would fit off of shaft first because finding the correct shaft profile and weight is super important because it’s the main timing device in a swing
