This sounds weird but I really appreciate every time you get hit (lol). I mean, it's obvious you know exactly what to do and how to dodge every single enemy. Sometimes you get hit anyway. ... I don't know. Maybe I've watched too much of a perfect S no damage video of this series (No TAS). I was beginning to think I really suck at playing this game for getting a couple hits or even worse, finish the mission with less than 10% HP. You make me wanna retry this game once again! (I was so tired by the length of the "give up" screen as I always dare to try DMD out. Even mod cannot reduce it)

I played Vergil on DMD in the Artemis mission and I was feeling bad when I was at like 1 bar of health because "Vergil OP, storm that it approaching, judgement nut", but I still S ranked it so I don't care too much now

Which ones are you having trouble with, and what difficulty? Always remember you can farm easier missions for more money for unlocks. In general, if you finish a mission without dying, you get a 20% score boost. On final difficulty (DMD) you need 6000 pts to get S. If you get only 5000 but don't die, you'll get 20% more which equals 6000. I think it's 5500 for an S on second highest difficulty and one-hit mode (SoS and HaH), and 5k pts for normal mode. You can get pts more easily by skipping short fights. For example, in mission 12 (where Dante first gets SDT) you start out with a few small demons attacking you, the sand reapers. It's only like 3 guys and it's hard to get high score, but you can run past them. The reason this works is score works as an average of all points you get. Whatever your style meter is at determines your pts per hit. So like nothing or a D is worth 1k, C is worth 2k, etc. That means S is worth 5K per hit. Meaning you have to average hitting at S for every hit to S rank DMD. SS and SSS are 6k/7k which puts your average up, and you can do "rapid hits" when you have a higher style to "milk" more pts. Use big hits early when your gauge is low to built the gauge fast, then use rapid hits when it's higher to cash in pts. You can also raise the gauge by doing stuff like dodging through attacks, taunting or using royal guard blocks. These all raise the gauge without actually hitting the enemy, so they don't contribute to the average pts. ex: you hit a caina 10 times. The first 5 hits are at D, then the next 5 are at C. 5 at D is 5K, 5 at C is 10k, together is 15k, divided by 10 hits, is 1.5K. Then the fight ends and you reset your gaage to zero and have to work back up through D next time you fight. ex 2: you taunt a caina, putting you at C, then block several attacks in a row, putting you at A. You hit him 10 times now. first 5 are at A, next 5 are at S. You get raised the gauge without actually hitting for any direct pts before you were at A rank. you get 5 x 4k + 5 x 5K = 45k, divided by 10 is 4.5K. Much closer to an S rank for the mission. In general, I don't recommend doing this slow "taunt and block" method against small fights as it's super boring, but using a taunt or some blocks or at least big-damage-per-hit moves to kick off a fight isn't a bad idea. Try stuff like the bazooka laser (charge or gunslinger forward) or DT-stinger or dance for Balrog fire and land a Real Impact early on. when you get to S rank or above sprinkle in more multihit stuff, like Cerberus moves, extended million stab, rainstorm, cavalliere attacks, whatever. If you want specific mission/enemy/boss tech ask me, but this channel has THE BEST info for enemy and weapon mechanics. I learn much by watching strategy videos here. In particular, most people have trouble with Behemoth, Judecca and Fury, so i recommend those videos. Queen empusa and Proto Angelo can be troublesome as well. Weapon videos are also awesome. Lotta cool little tricks and stuff to the weapons/arms.
