I hope you got your money back after buying and playing this, lmao. This "thing" (I hesitate to even call it a video game) is so bad that, fun fact, Steam gave me a full refund after I bought it when it was announced all those years ago. Yes, I alpha/beta tested this. Yes, I actually played this SERIOUSLY and talked to the devs. Yes, it's that bad that despite having way more than the two hours cap for Steam's refund policy, they still refunded the game. For its time tho, it did have some things going for it. The draw distance for details like grass was actually SUPER impressive for its time (and fields looked really good), plus the fact it had support for 24 or 25 vehicles in a race (back when most games struggled to handle 8). I actually had a few amazing 16-18-player online derbies, but thats as far as I'm gonna praise this thing lmao. Please seek therapy, Dustin, there's no way you didn't get PTSD downloading this.

For some reason, i still unironically love my copy of team 6's "Speed". It's one of the games i used to play the most on my wii as a kid, and if you get past the bad graphics, motion controls, cringe-tastic crashes, and the absolutely horrendous soundtrack (that is forever stuck in my head btw), you can get a bit of fun out of it (which is not the case for flatout 3)

Very nice to watch a video about FO3 that isn't only "XD TERRIBEL GAME LOL!!!" I can't with good faith say that the game is fun but it is funny. It's not really a racing game, it's a.. puzzle game of sorts. Just like you said, when it's on sale it's definitely worth the singular euro for the cheap laughs. Especially with friends its entertaining to go through the layers of "what were they thinking???" and that's already more than many "overwhelmingly negative" games can offer. Additionally, I have done the challenge mode a couple times as a speedrun and can tell some extra stuff: In the bus race where you get stuck on the jump, the jump IS doable but very difficult. Requires a full bar of boost and some practice to line yourself up correctly. The other solution is to turn and reset in the tunnel like 200 meters later. The game just teleports you past the jump after that. Why, I don't really know. I highly doubt the devs played through this one. Challenge #30, the Nightshift race on the Industry reverse map. That race actually is kind of broken, some of the cars are genuinely too good and you can't beat them. You need to go to back to menu and retry to get a new roll on the cars. Some maps have the cars chosen but not for this one. Last challenge, #50, has that issue with the AI boosting. The big wheel car has perfect handling and the checkpoints are so close together that it never stops doing it. No clue how to stop it other than restarting over and over till it stops doing it.

In older versions of the game, the train would destroy cars in one hit the moment one touched it but later it got changed to not instakill, the trained achievement is a leftover from that. Also Justin Case's coat didn't stretch in some previous versions

So since you mentioned there's a lot of "variety" in this game, there's a reason for it and it ties into what you said about Team 6 developing a truckload of shovelware games. The whole game is an asset flip from their previous 7 or so racing titles on the Wii, if you look at their older racing titles you will recognize a whole bunch of vehicles used in this game. This is also why there are so many mismatched elements, weird bugs and nonsensical combinations of things and why none of it works as it should - it's a jumble of assets from multiple bad games frankensteined into the ultimate racing shovelware title of all times.

Classic example of a new developer being handed the IP just for some quick cash. Make it look just good enough to trick some people and make money. So immoral to just shit on a series. Looks better than a lot of games on Steam though. I'll stick to finishing FlatOut 2. I like your content! Driving games are possibly my favorite genre (which I think you're content is mostly about). It's so easy to try a new racing game. Never intimidating. But easy to sink time into good ones and multiplayer is common. Good for short sessions or long. Creative itches can be scratched with map editors. And of course, speed! The developer was cheating by releasing an unfinished product so do what you gotta do to get through the wild west torture that is an unfinished experience (you know they didn't 100% their own game once anyway). Thanks for playing this one for me!

I'm pretty sure the sewer track and game engine in this game was actually re-used from Monster Trucks Mayhem where the trucks were way bigger versus the cars small size which is why cars in Flat Out 3 suck for climbing hills.
