Hi Katrina! Copywriter here who was also at my first agency job for 4 years. I joined another agency before working for myself and let me tell you, as scary as it is, you are so ahead of the curve. You are totally employable because your designs are catchy, you seem like a great co worker, and you are so good on social! I was actually “let go” from my last job, though through a contract ending so it also felt like not my choice. I was heartbroken but chose to go all in on my longtime dream of video as well. I am a bit older than you so I have my own fears, but as someone with about 15 years now of consulting / contracting experience, i know you have what it takes to build whatever thriving direction you choose. Ps your mom and sis made me tear up; that’s the pep talk I wish I had. Looking forward to all the gifts 2025 has for the both of us!! Cheers!

The way your mom reacted was so unexpectedly beautiful caring wholesome and quick. She had no doubt you'll be able to pull through, and was so validating and empowering. It caught me so off guard it made me cry lol. She sounds like an amazing person who's been through it and gained so much wisdom, and someone to keep as close as possible 💖 I'm super excited to see your KZbin journey!! Blessing in disguise, new beginnings, and a fresh start ^.^

Thank you for sharing this vulnerable part of your life, Kat! Not sure if you remember, but you taught the Branding elective at Cal and I was lucky enough to be one of your students! You seriously inspired me and so many others in that class, and continue to inspire even more people with all the content you've been making. If I remember one thing about you and your talents and work ethic, it's that you are so creatively powerful. You will get through this and it will get so much better for you. Your mom is right- you are SO. GOOD. Can't wait to see what you do next!

Your mom is so nice and she's also right. This will more than likely allow you to achieve more than you would trying to balance a job, freelance, and content creation. It may be harder in the short term but you'll end up in a better place. I'm in the same position where I probably should leave my job but I'm afraid of losing the stable paycheck. Sometimes you need someone to push you off the cliff...you'll be fine! looking forward to more content now! haha

I’ve been following you for a while now, ever since my 3rd year of university when I was starting my first real job (in an agency) and I just wanted to say what an inspiration you are to so many of us! I’ve graduated now (so it’s been like 2-3 years that I’ve bed following you?) and I’m still here because you inspire me every single day. I know you’ve probably heard this a million times but you will 100% be fine!!! And just like your mom said, this is a blessing in disguise. Its your chance to follow your dreams and do your own thing and I bet it will all work out and be 10x better. 🥺🥺🥺 I hope this holiday season serves as a good break and introspection moment so you can feel energized for whatever comes next!

Got laid off from my job in October as well. Unfortunately with doubting my own design skills - i never persued or gave enough time to my own projects and develop my own skills. November and December was really busy with other things and today was my first offical day of working for myself and honestly I do not have any idea of where to start from and how to not procrastinate lol. So look back to what you already accomplished, and keep going with your life. PLUS YOUR MOM IS SUPPORTING YOU. By the other hand is important to see how much you have in comparison with other people around you, and around the world. That helps sometimes!

I got laid off after 5 year’s of being with a company. Also because of budget cuts. Took 4 months off, then became a freelancer. And in just one year, I am getting paid more than before. I get to choose what to work on. I also have time to pursue a new passion, calligraphy, which has given me multiple job opportunities. Honestly, if you have planted the right seeds in your life, something will grow out of it without having to panic. Jobs came to me, I didn’t look for them. You probably already have people watching you and interested in collaborating. Being laid off is a good thing. Especially since you are very young. We get too attached to projects and maybe don’t notice that there are many more opportunities to grow out there. Sending a big hug!

Katrina I had no idea that you would be making this kind of video and posting all your families' reactions. I am so proud of you for making this video! You are so authentic and brave for being vulnerable. You have come such a long way my baby girl! I remember you asking me as a teenager in high school one day: "Mom do you think I am going to be successful?". My reply was: "It depends on how you define success, is it happiness, or is it achieving financial wealth and freedom?". So after all these years, I can definitely tell you that I truly believe you have achieved great success! You not only love what you do but you are so talented and have such a great community of followers and fans! You are only at the beginning of your career and can only grow from here on. Entrepreneurship runs in our family and I always encouraged you to go on your own since the beginning. This is truly a blessing in disguise...a silver lining! Spread your wings and aim high Katrina! You got this! Your community and family support you all the way! I also want to thank your community/followers for all the wonderful comments that show their support and love. You are truly blessed to have such amazing fans! I also want to thank them for all their kind words to my reaction when you called me. It made me so emotional to read all their supportive comments. You have found your purpose and am making a big difference to this world. Continue to dream big and do wonderful things in this world! YOU GOT THIS!!! The Universe has your back and you will look back one day and realize things happen for a reason! It's your time to really shine and move on to bigger and better things! Love you so much baby girl! Your biggest fan! Mom
