Jim, I bought my first 9.9 a couple of weeks ago. It was at auction on ebay. It was the Batman #608, Batman Day foil cover from 2002. I just had to have it. I think I won the bids at around the $148 dollar mark with shipping and taxes included. Not bad since I saw that a 9.8 sold for $500. I need to submit my Batman Damned 1-3 because I hear that several have received 9.9 on those.

The Daredevil 161 is an amazing Frank Miller cover! I think people forget just how good an artist he was because of his recent covers. These are not a good example of his work. Also, in that daredevil run, there's a character named Eric Slaughter. Wonder if Tynion got any ideas for his SIKTC characters..? 🤔 lol

Jim, can you explain what a 9.8 pre-screen is exactly? Maybe add that in a video for those of us who aren't totally clear on that. Thanks!

You send in books and if any don't make the grade, you are charged a fee ($9 currently) and they send back the books raw. Any that make the grade are slabbed as normal

Nice work, i truly hope you are putting a full set of Transformers together at 9.8, you are crushing it.

Congrats on the 9.9! The thumbnail fooled me as I thought the TMNT was perhaps one of the earlier reprints. Nice books all around Jim.

Incredible success to you Jim! You’re well on your way. Would love to see what you could do for my ASM 129 CGC 8.5. Looks like a strong 9.6 or 9.8 candidate.

I typically don't do work for others, but on a potential ASM #129 9.8, I might make an exception, email me improvecollecting@gmail.com

I'm working on it actually. I have been choosing a platform to host the community and think I finally found it. I am going to set up a few things, start working on lessons, then start sending updates next week (or the next at the latest). Thanks for asking :)

what was the technique you used to get the haziness off? Comiqcleen? wool sock? :-)
@ImproveCollectingComics2 ай бұрын
I am still testing it, so I don't want to say yet.. in case it may have only worked on a particular kind of haziness, I'll probably test and cover this in the course. It was a dry cleaning method though, one of the tools on my website

what is the ratio of books you buy thinking it's a 9 or 9.2 with potential for 9.8, and get burned by it being actually like an 8 because the pics didn't show flaws? Meaning when you buy from ebay etc
@ImproveCollectingComics2 ай бұрын
It's actually pretty rare, I'd say 90%+ of the time the books meet my expectations, 5% they are close enough, and

Will there be a comic slabed by PSA ?
@TripleXmodder2 ай бұрын
They aren’t “cool books” once you slab them. They are just an image, back & front. Slabbing is cool for trading cards because that’s all they are, a front & back. Slabbing is the worst thing to happen to comic book collecting. PS- doesn’t stop me from enjoying your videos though.

Good thing omnibus exist...
@ImproveCollectingComics2 ай бұрын
It's a form of preservation, and great for display. Most comics are available in an omnibus, online, or someone can get a reader's copy. There's no reason to risk damaging a book further, especially a pristine one, when there are other options out there to read it. The story is the same, no matter the grade
