After playing for 11 years I think "Yeah, I'm pretty good" and then I watch this and cry in the corner. All jokes aside this is infinitely more impressive to me than metal shredding, it just takes on such a rich tone as well as just makes you feel good and is a raw characteristic of American history. Simply perfect

I play jazz piano since 2016,it was no joke its very complex. I also play metal guitar,it requires speed tho when I play master of puppets by Metallica. For me,metal is like doing a marathon while jazz is like solving very complex math problems.
@potzko25527 жыл бұрын
why not both? did you try progressive metal? or some classical guitar? :) I recommend bach for high musicality with technical skill and villa lobos if you are at that level, also Stimpy Lockjaw if you prefer prog metal. :)

I'm taking a bungee jump here...and I can't swim. I'm a guitar player...sort of...from Guyana, giging in and around Miami. Chet Atkins and Hank Marvin were my early inspirations. I've listened a lot...Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, Tommy Emmanuel, Vince Gill, Albert Lee, Stevie Ray, B.B. King, Ernest Ranglin, Segovia....basically, across the board. If it's good I will listen. Meaning ABSOLUTELY no disrespect to the aforementioned giants, (maybe it's the Johnny Walker Black kicking in) I was blown away by your "I got rhythm." Jazz has always interested, captivated, and confused me, perhaps because it has an embedded tendency to almost demand interpretation. Fabulous. Thank you. You too Vince.

This is extremely impressive, inspiring, and even intimidating! I'm so happy to have stumbled upon your channel, especially this specific video. I just started getting into jazz and I'm also learning to appreciate it even more now that I pick up my guitar and try to make it sound the way you do; and find it to be rather difficult lol. Thank you so much for all these videos, I'll continue tuning in :]

How to get those beautiful clean sound..what amp did you used?..thanks in advance master
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar5 жыл бұрын
I don't use an amp, I play directly in my audio interface and add some effects to the guitar sound like EQ, compressor and Reverb. The gauge of the strings, what sort of pick do you use and how you hold it has also a great influence of your tone.

It is so confusing to me how guitarists like this can come up with different ways to phrase melodies on the fly. How does he think of a way start a melody already knowing how he wants to expand it while he's already playing one at the same time?
@ahuhehihause18 жыл бұрын
+TheSamuraiApocalypse after you train scales, licks, harmony a lot, it is just about letting you brain flow... do you know how to start a conversation? do you think about the entire conversation or you just talk? it is pretty much the same.. we improvise all the time

It helps a lot to listen to a lot of the music you play. I'm a blues rock guitarist, and I listen to a lot of Led Zeppelin, SRV, Hendrix, Willy Dixon, etc and have found that improving is a lot easier than if I were to play Jazz. Learn the basic scales, and learn a handful of songs, along with licks and riffs, listen to guitar jazz like this, and it'll come to you.
@s.b.50367 жыл бұрын
The guy obviously plays a lot of licks here..the things thats really unique about jazz, motivic improvisation and rhythmic variation is not happening here...just line after line and repeating them
@annonymeandfish7 жыл бұрын
once you've got the tune's key, and basic melody you can go up and down different scales, appegios, pentatonics etc. just like when you talk, youre fingers walk on the neck.
