The only reason reprinting doesn't drive down prices in MTG is because Wizards suck at reprinting. They reprint in amounts that scale to the current value of the card with the intent of keeping the price the same. Tarmogoyf doesn't go down in price when reprinted because it is reprinted at Mythic in sets with tiny print runs. If Wizards cared about making cards available to players they wouldn't make sets like Modern Masters and Eternal Masters tiny print runs that cost an arm and a leg for a box, but as long as that is the case we won't see significant price drops from reprinting. If you want to see how reprinting should work, take a look at fetchlands in Khans and Fate, sadly Wizards do reprints like that extremely rarely.

Reprint crap in "Modern" and "Eternal" masters, is not a real reprint, the set is fucking limited as crap and hyped out of orbit, making it pointless. Reprint crap in current sets and you will see if it drives price down or not. Magic lately has just been turning into a big scam - the power level is stagnant, we don't get reprints, we don't get alternatives to cards that are not reprinted and we don't get better cards. Thankfully Hearthstone exists, and thankfully it will punish Wizards more and more for every time they fuck up. And they fuck up A HELL OF A LOT.

Bad to hear this pal, at least you got another follower. I'm running my own online storefront here at spain, and there was a time I got scammed on a 500€ sealed prod purchase. All the lorwyn and mm packs where repacked with lands and proxies of the cards. Gladfully, I went to police and they freezed the money on the transfer from my bank, so I could recap it one year and a half later. They didn't get the fucker, but I got a lesson and my money back. Perhaps you can claim this situation to police (for a 1k$ it should be like theft for them) or ebay or any other mean you got the box from. Best wishes and keep up the videos flowing.

There would be no tournaments because who would want to win a card thats worth nothing. Game shops would just close. Social interaction would be nill.

Anything suspicious ? Did you checked that or did you just opened it without paying attention to this issue ? My point is that THIS PRODUCT IS ALLOWED TO BE EXPENSIVE. It sucks that there are counterfeits and scammers, but that is the risk you take with any old product of any kind. I think MTGHeadquarters (and the Original Buyer) could/should have been a little more careful about the purchase. You can't fix people being greedy, and that's a fact. If the price of the box was halved, people would still try to scam people. It's not something that WotC can fix.

We had an FLGS that was acused of this practice... Taking good rares out of the packs and inserting Jank. He got BANNED from buying from Wizards and BANNED from holding any DCI Sanctioned events. Lucky for us we have a second FLGS who runs a good clean nice great store

I got scammed with Modern Masters cardboard boosters. Ordered them before knowing anything about brand new recyclable and easy to open/close booster pack... I blame Wizards as much as the seller for a worst choice on booster pack type.

That is not what you claimed in your video, you stated that the boosters were opened and resealed. You should file a claim with the seller, whether he knew or not shouldn't matter, he sold you a defective product. But you would have to prove it, for example if an unopened pack already had finger prints on it, it would be indicative of fraud.

Things like this make me wish wizards would abolish the reserved list and do all they can to tank the secondary market in order to stop the crazy amount of theft and scamming. It sucks that everyone's collections these days are as much of a liability as they are fun.

I am trying to go through the pros and cons in my head, but I think these kinds of scenarios should be treated like using fake money is. It does not matter whether the person who sold the fake box knew it was fake or not. They should still be held legally liable. This way, people can't lie and just say that they got it from someone else. The problem is that it can be hard to spot a fake without opening it first. It isn't as easy to check like fake money is. Another problem would be that it would really scare people away from selling old product and affect the secondary market, but I don't know how much of a difference would be made in conjunction with the pros of creating a powerful deterrent for scammers.

There are 110 rares in Urza's Saga. You only opened 36 packs... The odds of not getting the any one top twenty cards are still pretty high. I think it's 40%. What else about the box makes you think it was repacked?
