Glad you got your money back. I had a recent scam for a $150 item, with a bs not as described reason. The buyer did not want to return the item though. Was a very stressful situation so can imagine what you were going through. In the end I got my money back and the buyer got a refund and kept the item. I think Ebay needs to tweak some policies so it is not so easy for scammers to do this. We are the ones that are guilty until proven innocent, it shouldn't be that way.

Agreed. Also instead of % feedback they need have grades like a report card. It's not right some dirty seller will have like 10 negative feedbacks but yet it says 100% .... Not right. If you spend enough $ on a store you can get all negatives you want and still have 100% crazy.

Great job in handling the situation. I have been on eBay for over 20 years here's one tip I would give you. When selling high price items make sure you video yourself packing the item. If you're dealing with electronics video yourself testing the product. Also if you get a return do not open the package right away do a open box video. Upload your videos to KZbin Mark them as private. Then when you contact ebay you can provide them the links. This has worked for me in the past. Just let eBay know that you video record any items over a certain amount.

I’m wondering if you state this in a listing that all items will be videoed as they are being packed and in the event of a return, the item will be videoed to make sure the correct item was returned, so you think it would cut back on the scams since they know you have an eye out for them?

That was a good idea to weigh it when it came back. Break the big lot into smaller lots, there are some ebay sellers that are thieves, (I have dealt with 2 myself) and ebay has really nice reps on phone but they really don't have a clue about scams.

You are amazing! Sorry that buyer scammed you. I suggest that you file a Police Report with her local Police Department. It might also qualify as Mail Fraud. Check with your Post Office about that. What you did with the dolls after you got them back is to be commended. I am sure that you helped make some kids happy.

I just signed the letter to my Congress people eBay has provided for us to participate with the irs over reach into online reselling …to try stopping the sales tax on the used items and the small sellers that sell personal items for extra money…not to treat everyone like a huge reseller when we aren’t…it’s good to see they’re doing something to stop this….they probably lost a lot of people selling lol

Bless your heart. Don't get too happy, though, they did this because it was your first time, from now on it's gonna be business as usual. They also refunded her. The NAD gives people a free ride to scam...and scammers take full advantage of it, at our expense. There's no sure way to beat an NAD, even if your listings pics prove its authentic. I've had two hit me at once...the scammers are probably Christmas shopping early.

Man, that sounds like such a crappy situation to be in! I'm glad eBay was able to sort it all out so you didn't lose money. This will be my first Q4 reselling, and part of me is worried that situations like this might happen more frequently.

They will, but just like with any business, you can expect some less than honest customers. We have free returns on 99% of our 2000 item store. In the last year, we've had six returns out of the hundreds of items we sell per month. Half of those we told the customer to donate the item, and refunded the money. Out of the six, we always give the buyer the benefit of doubt, because it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Scanners or dishonest buyers make up less than .001% of our total customer base. Why spend more than a minute on what we can't control when that time can be spent on buying, listing and shipping.

If she was from a different state than Pennsylvania she should get federal charges for interstate fraud through the mail, you can get some serious time for that. It's a disgrace how little eBay has the sellers back. Every sale is a potential risk by scammer. I live in Philly also. Great to see that you still up for yourself and got your money back! I had a very similar situation selling a large lot of costume jewelry once. I did my own research on the buyer and got lucky. This was a $1300 sale, so I wasn't backing down quietly. I was able to find 3 alternate seller accounts this person had, and identify my pieces on all of these accounts listed for sale. I presented all of this to eBay and told them how I figured it out, they were speachless. They denied her claim, and shut down 3 of her 4 accounts, along with several thousand listings she had up. That was the most satisfying day I ever had on eBay.

Yep common with idiot scammers. They take what they want and return the rest. The old charge back scam I had a couple of those on a go pro cameras sold as new. Like you did my research found the buyer address was the same on account and won the dispute with the bank and eBay.

I'm glad to hear you got your money back. I am always professional with eBay customer service. The one time I had a customer leave a feedback for a product rather than a feedback for me as the seller. I do not manufacture what I sell, I do the same as you. I explained to the buyer I do not make the product and there is a different place for her to leave a review of the product, and that her negative feedback counts against me. She said she would remove the neg, but she failed to ever do so. I requested a revision, which was denied. I called eBay and asked to be reviewed, and the ultimately eBay would do nothing. They said this was my chance to let my customer service skills shine. WTF. I put in a reply to her feedback about what she had done and blocked her. I did nothing wrong, but I am stuck with that feedback now. Ebay let me down.

I'm happy for you that it worked in your favor though. Scammers suck! I've had a few myself...they discourage you from wanting to sell but it's not worth quitting. More people then not are okay & trustworthy but, that one really burns your biscuits when they scam & especially when it doesn't work in your favor. I feel for you. I used to sell on ebay but in recent years so many scammy people have surfaced that I decided to call it a day. At least you can speak to ebay, we don't have that ability where I am. From my experience I would guess ebay paid you out and most likely refunded her, which is good for you but scammers KNOW that ebay fold easily. Block and report...good advice...Its sad that these people keep doing this. Blessings and good Karma to you for helping people..you are proof that there ARE good people in this world 😊

Thanks for this info. I have been selling since 2004...I have had a couple issues lately. ( None in the past)I have tried to deal with it professionally. But hearing your story is a great reminder to stay alert and keep on top of things. !!!!! You sound like a totally honest guy.... I would have never thought of tracking the weight. !!! Great idea.
