If you bought what you think is a hot phone, you most definitely should not erase it. You should contact some of the people on the list to see if it was stolen. If it was stolen, the person it was stolen from is going to be very happy.

Be careful returning the phone, maybe they put someone else’s Apple ID on purpose so if you return it goes back to them and they resell it again and again and again til someone don’t give it back

Sarah, I think you can just factory reset a device every time there is a password on it. It basically resets the device and makes it brand new again with no password :)
