I Got The NEW COSTCO Kirkland Irons & The TRUTH IS... With the releases of the latest golf clubs either having been announced or yet to come.. the driver that most people are talking about at the moment isn't the Taylormade Qi10, isn't the Callaway Paradym AI Smoke. isn't the Ping G430 Max 10k and isn't even the Cobra dark speed driver... but in fact the Costco Kirkland signature Irons... a new set of irons for $499 could well be the best irons of 2024 when you go and buy your ketchup, loo roll and toothpaste. Are the costco irons the best forgiving irons of 2024? Are the Kirkland irons the best budget Irons of 2024? well finally... it's time to find out...

When I first started, I paid $35 for a set of Dunlop irons from JC Penney (when they had sporting goods) and got my handicap down to an 8 (cheap driver and an old Spalding Persimmon 3 wood), So yea, spending a ton of cash on expensive golf clubs, for us average golfers, does not translate to a better game. Spend the cash on lessons and the driving range! :)

Maltby TS1 IM Forged Iron Heads, have you heard of these? The gent who sent you the Kirkland driver, said these were the irons to beat in. 2024. It is a component brand, but they will build them to your specs. Your followers might be interested in see you try something like these, because they will come in on the cheap, but may really perform for you.

Well done James true ambassador of the game. Its about getting people playing, and making sure we capture talent. It expensive and hard, I was a junior at rushcliffe and was given a set to start. These options make it accessible, enjoying the game is the key, snobbery needs to go. I have all the clubs I want now, but that's choice, if I couldn't I'd be at Costco...

A really constructive review off a set of irons at a budget price. We all have to start somewhere, and it appears that this set would be a fair buy. Along with the driver, wedges, and putter, maybe a better bet that buying a generic full set of starter clubs that you can pick up in most golf shops.

Seems like they are exactly what we all expected based on the hype, better than they should be for the price and manufacturer, but still something many of us won't play due to lack of consistency being not quite enough. Great beginner to intermediate set for a price that is amazing really. That disparity in the 7 iron assuming it is across the entire set seemed a lot.

Looking at the swing speeds you had they varied greatly. I noticed on one shot your club speed was over 90 and then another was upper 80's. So maybe if you had a proper shaft there could be more consistency. Thus the downfall of buying off the shelf and not getting fit.

I have both Ts1-im and the Kirklands. I know irons are a personal thing as well, but the TS1-im to me, are better. Not because of performance/feel, they actually both preform and feel great, but the TS1’s have a much thinner top line and sole and are still as easy to hit as the Kirklands. The Maltbys just look so much better in the bag and to my eye at the ball.

Your distance with the 7 iron reduced when you came away from the tee to hitting flat off the mat. You dropped 8 yards with your first strike maybe having the ball teed up created a better contact increasing distance. But you were further using the tee

Hi James, thanks for the review but can I make a kind request please? Is it possible to take a budget of clubs and use them for a number of rounds - perhaps 3-4 rounds per month - so that we can see if/how these budget club’s performance degrades over time. I guess all clubs play well when new but how do they last against constant use/abuse? As a budget customer I can’t afford a premium set but don’t want to change a set of iron after 1-2 seasons either. Should also make good content for the channel. Thanks for another great video.

I have hit blades all my life, I don’t like chunky big cavity back irons. To me those aren’t true irons. It doesn't matter the price range, the brand, or the finish. It’s all about the blades , to hit good shape shots, control the distance, force myself to hit good shots and feel the reward of a great shot. Those Kirkland blades look pretty nice, I’m in the market of getting a second blade set. Hogans, mcgregors, Wilson’s, titleist, takomo. The options are endless.

Buying clubs is also about resale value and therefore the cost during how long you owned them. I purchased Ping 430 irons, didn’t like them, sold them after 6 months for more than I paid for them. Kirkland have little if any resale value, so you have to own them for a long time to get true value.

You never really showed us the amount of offset. You mentioned it a few times but never showed us the club in the playing position so we could see the offset. The amount of offset is very important to a lot of us as we need a lot of offset to hit the longer irons straight and not have them leak from left to right. Please show the irons, particularly the longer irons in the playing position. Also, you talk about turf interaction but I want to see more closeups of the camber on the sole from heal to toe and also from leading edge to trailing edge. I would especially appreciate an up close look at the leading edge as I greatly prefer a very rounded leading edge so the club glides more and digs less. Thanks.
