Thats a nice haul! you can make some cutting boards and maybe even serving trays. You can make good money with that! Start planning and build some great stuff with it!

There's a lot of wood there, for sure. Will find some ways to use it.

Built a dollhouse shanty cabin or use it for cool wood-burning signs. Nothing goes to waste.

I absolutely agree with you about live edge. I have only seen a couple examples where I would have actually liked something made with live edge, out of the thousands and thousands of table, shelves, etc made with it. I think you have a lot of pen blanks there. Maybe some veneers if you wanna try that. That's what I would do with it.
@WoodenThingsAndStuff

I think I've maybe seen 3 pieces in total where I didn't think they would be better if the edges were cut off. haha

WHAOOOOOOOO twisted sister, as a small sawyer Its a crime to not stack and dry properly, Good on you for taking on the challenge of recovering as much as possible. All in all I say this is good content and thanks for showing everyone you can get something out of nothing.

Good enough for table legs or something like that.
@WoodenThingsAndStuff
@WoodenThingsAndStuff 26 күн бұрын
Coffee tables, maybe. Only a few of them ended up long enough for a table you'd sit at. But yeah, lots of usable pieces that'll find their way into projects eventually.

With a lot of work you will get some usable wood. But free is free, can't complain.
@WoodenThingsAndStuff

Agreed. Will probably just chip away at it for small things where I can work around the cracks rather than try to make a bigger project out of it. We'll see.

It'll get used....just not sure for what. Probably just small things where I can keep cutting around the cracks. Just chip away at it rather than try to come up with a project that needs a bunch of it at once.

Is it possible to steam twisted wood like you had and let it dry flat to straighten it, or would it naturally try and twist back?

I'll aggravate the fine woodworking crowd. Add some of that cherry wood to your BBQ, get some proper sweet smoke flavour onto them pork-m-chops next time.
@WoodenThingsAndStuff

@@chrishaywood5388 Definitely where all those strips of live edge are going! And probably a bunch more when I try to work with it for a project and there are too many cracks to work around.

Rolling pin blanks
@WoodenThingsAndStuff
@WoodenThingsAndStuff 27 күн бұрын
Yeah...could probably work around some of the cracks and get a few rolling pins out of a few of them. Good idea if another project doesn't come up for a bunch of it before the next market prep session.

Premium pre-released internal tension cherry. Very unlikely it will twist on you down the road. Probably. Maybe. It might make great hot wheels spiral tracks.

More likely it'll become a crap ton of small things like spatulas, rolling pins, boxes, charcuterie boards, etc. where I can work around the cracks. But we'll see.

@WoodenThingsAndStuff
@WoodenThingsAndStuff 26 күн бұрын
Part of me just said that to see if I could get a reaction from the people who like it. Haha. But a much larger part of me thinks that 9 times out of 10 a piece with a live edge would look better if it was cut off. But everyone can like what they like, and my personal preference is not live edge.

The 4/4 one is probably going to end up that way....just follow the cracks (maybe even just split it along them) and get as many as I can.

It should have been hit LONG before I said that anyway. But at least I know you watched it that far. Also, why would that matter to you? It's not like you actually make things out of wood anymore. Oooooooooh BURN!
