Absolutely amazing to see all the things that are on a firetruck. I'm so grateful to the fireman for their bravery and knowledge of the necessary equipment. Who'd have known so much more than water goes into fighting a fire. Jesus, you're so cool you're hot.

In smaller towns, Paul, it's very common for police and firefighters to take a vehicle to a local ice cream social or to the YMCA so that young kids can climb aboard the truck and check out the inside, hit the lights and siren, etc. It's a way to get them interested in the career

I loved this one! Many of my favorite people are firefighters and many of those are volunteer. Wonderful and amazing people all of them. This video is excellent also for showing to the young ones who might be interested in firefighters/trucks.

DENVER, YOU WENT TO DENVER and DIDN'T TELL ME. I am just down the street in Albuquerque. Next, you can try an ambulance. Not quite as much fun but very interesting. The person riding in the ambulance (patient) is the MOST secure. Sometimes you just pull in the back, stop, and the just pull out the front.

Those trucks cost about 100,000 a piece. In NYC, they call the cops New York City's Finest, the firemen New York City's Bravest and the Sanitation men New York City's strongest

It's something I had occasion to discover, several years ago. In my city (and it's my understanding this is the case with _most_ major cities), police departments tend to operate with openings, while fire departments tend to have their ranks full, with a list of volunteers they're ready to call on as soon as an opening appears. The general public tends to be a lot more comfortable risking their lives fighting _fires_ than fighting _crime._

Do they have volunteer firefighters in Ireland, Paul? They're out livin' their lives and when a call comes in they drop whatever they're doing and haul ass to the fire station, with flashing lights and siren on their personal vehicles. I grew up in a rural suburb where the land was flat and the roads were straight and when the station siren went off you cleared the way because two or three would be flying by about a hundred miles an hour in about a minute.

You might of not been able to slide down the fire pole, because there did not seem to be one in the footage I saw, but at least you were able to ride in the fire truck and that in self is pretty cool. I think I was around seven years old and a few of my classmates fathers came in to talk about their jobs. One was a martial arts instructor, another was a cop and another one was a firefighter. We were all amazed how heavy the boats, jacket, helmet, and trousers the firefighters have to wear to protect themselves. Not mention all of the other equipment each might have to carry. Not sure if my father was still working for Coke cola or if he was doing Real estate or a grocery manager or even if he was asked to come in and talk about his job for that matter.

My dad was a fireman. We grew up at 3 of the stations in the city (in those days, they worked 3 days on, 3 days off). Some we liked more than others, but they all had poles 😄
