It seems during your first stream you got a connection error which sent you back to the main menu in the middle of the prologue. The prologue has an odd quirk where it assumes you completed or skipped the whole thing when that occurs. This caused you to skip the final tutorial node which explained how to use EGO skills as since Canto 1 was open you assumed you were there already. The tutorial is still bad but if you were wondering how to use EGO, the last node informs you that you need to click and hold on the sinners' portraits to view their EGO and what sin resources you need (Using different colors of skills gives you resources corresponding to the color, your stockpile is displayed on the right side of the screen during a combat encounter) in order to cast them. I don't recall you ever using EGO but I may have missed it. Hope this helps, but regardless of it did I hope you have a good day and you continue enjoying the game.
