Biggest tomato I've grown was somewhere around 3.5lbs. It was a beefsteak variety that megabloomed. It wasn't as ugly looking, but it was big. When I cut it open, it had a lot more meat in it than a normal beefsteak tomato and about half the seeds

This is pretty cool, friend I've never met 🙂 While I don't want to try growing one these monstrosities myself, I have had a related happy plant experience: one of my waratah dwarfs produced a bunch of fasciated flowers, giving me classic large "heirloom" type tomatoes, seeds from which continued to produce the same kind in turn. It has been really fascinating to see the geometric congruences in physical structure of solanaceae fruits, wild and domestic.

Someone I follow on tumblr maintains that tomatoes are ornery buggers and have to be a little bit abused to grow their best. So when the deer ate the top off Ketchup, its growth was probably partially spurred by the desire for revenge. 😄 "Eat my top? I'll show YOU. Take THIS!" Cue: one gigantic ugly tomato. 😂 I like these kinds of videos too... you are truly a man of many talents.

My suggestion is to border your garden with a plant called nicotiana to protect from wildlife and pest insects. There are many varieties with many colors and they benefit pollinators. I had no idea that two tomato blossoms could fuse together.
@volvo092 ай бұрын
That tomato might have benefited from the deer eating the plant... If you damage a flower the fruit can partially split in two. Either way, that's a wacky tomato breed! Very big!

They look like Brandywine tomatoes! The world's ugliest AND tastiest tomatoes. Yummm ... lol. I have been growing Brandywines for about ten years, saving my seeds from the previous year for this year's crop. I have a small greenhouse, and live on Vancouver Island and have a longer growing season than many North American locations. Nothing like home grown tomatoes, and heritage tomatoes can't be beaten!

I think big tomatoes are terrible! Above all, as we all know, they are very dangerous, as you could see in the documentary 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes'! But joking aside ..... I actually don't like the usual big supermarket tomatoes because they are big red water bag fruits with no flavor, I prefer cherry or date tomatoes. They are full of flavor and taste and they are convenient to eat and last a long time.
