Almost every restaurant and cafes in Finland fit to different diets and allergies are taken into account. Because quite a few finnish people are actually lactose-intolerant or has celiac disease, there are often gluten-free and lactose-free options. More people nowadays are also vegan or vegetarian so almost every restaurant and cafe offers at least one vegan friendly option too. And we who do not have any special diets like our potatoes, berries and mushrooms too :)

I moved to Finland back in August. As a Brit it's certainly a different place, but I already enjoy the pace of life, the much quieter areas and the people a lot more. I thought for a second you were going to stop at my local station Leinela at 0:18. Bit of a long walk to Helsinki from there lol Also, next time you visit see if you can try a Karelian pasty, or Karjalanpiirakka. Rye flour wrapped around milky rice, but also mashed potato or rice and carrot. Served hot with eggy butter on them they are divine. A good pick-me-up food for cold winters.

You did a really good job making the best of the little time you had! The library visits were a nice idea, as Finns tend to appreciate their libraries, and use them a lot. 😊 Also, the salmon soup is well worth trying, glad you got to it, it's quite delicius. If you come to Finland again, I recommend June or August - June (before midsummer) is probably the best time. July in Helsinki (and June after midsummer) is.... quiet. People are on their summer holidays, and tend to be somewhere else than Helsinki. July is great in that pepople have been waiting for the summer, and are happy with the warm weather, and the long days. The cafes and bars have terrases open outside, and the nature is at it's most beautiful.

loved to see my city through your eyes! and I'm so glad you had nice weather, it was really gloomy and rainy last week :D and damn the uni library's so wonderfully vacant at 8am... every time I have to wander around to even get a seat - I've actually taken my homework to the cathedral steps lol
