Investing on a decent roof over your head is pretty vital, so you are being very wise indeed ! I think that one of the best things about you both is how genuine you come across, sharing a bit of your daily life with all its struggles and ups and downs, without any artificial posing or showing off , which makes you both relatable and really likeable. Please stay that way !

Good choice to get the roof done even though it is/has been disruptive. You'll feel so much cosier and safer, like letting all that gorgeous light pour in to the living room with the new glass doors. Keep safe to the three of you until the next installment. 🥰

Before you said that you were staying in another house, I was stunned at the amount of work you had done 💩😂 The roof is a great investment. Perhaps not so much in hotter climes, but if it's wet, the walls can deteriorate rapidly. I hate the wind too. It is useful tho - for wind turbines. The floorboards in your bedroom look great.

so much happening with your lives, and now the house roof. So wonderful for winter to have it all done. I can totally empathise with the wind situation its been blowing gale force winds here in Southern Tasmania for several days now, we are in the Roaring Forties so wind is not unusual its just really strange for this time of year. So sad about the bell tent. your house is really becoming such a beautiful home for you all.

The new roof will make your home feel so good. The expense and time it takes to organise and clean will soon fade into the past. My car is having to have an expensive repair redone which I will have to pay for so am thinking it’ll be worth it in the long run. Parting with money when you least expect it is never fun.

We had 70 km wind here, knocked power out in several cities. Fortunately these are common enough given the Pacific Ocean is our coastline. Putting a repaired roof is essential for all of you to feel safe and dry. Yes, it's a headache getting it done, but after you're assured you have a safe, dry cover. I don't mind winds, but hail storms are my own annoyance.

Buenas noches Harriet y familia.

The wind is terrible 🌬💨 I was always scared that my polytunnel is flying away. I had to secured it really well. Inside the polytunnel I've put a big rainwater barrel that I fixed with ropes to the metal bars on top. It keept it from flying away during the last storms. Have a nice Sunday without wind and rain 🌝🌞💛

We had that wind, too! It was very intense and went on for days. (I'm originally from Florida so that wind felt very familiar, as we have tropical storms quite often and getting the roof done is something Floridians can relate to, also. Hurricanes are tough on roofs.) Lots of broken umbrellas here in Asturias. Our friends in Galicia had it even more intensely than we did. Santi is getting so big and is really taking everything in these days. It must feel like everything is happening at once. Saludos desde Asturias.

Harriet, I agree totally with you redacted 10 minute rant against wind! I got trapped in a holiday let by fallen trees in Storm Ciaran whilst on holiday in Kent last week (which I think might be the same storm your video shows) and now I'm back in the north west of England, the wind is currently battering my little house on the side of a Lake District fell thanks to Storm Debbie. It leaves such a mess of fallen trees and damaged infrastructure as well as blowing anything unsecured around, when you go out afterwards, there's aways that sinking feeling of "what has been damaged this time". I'm so relieved that your roof has stood up to the wind even in a half-undressed state, it says a lot for your roofers that they managed to keep it safe even whilst halfway through the job! I'm sorry about the bell tent though, that's really sad. Glad the polytunnel stood up to it. I'm looking at putting in a tiny polytunnel this winter in my very exposed garden (I've chosen the most sheltered place for it), so any tips for windproofing would be most welcome. Good luck with the second side of the roof and I'll keep my fingers crossed that stormy weather is not a feature of this winter for you (although at least you will have a brand new and more robust roof in place!)

Your face looks far more rested that the last year. Maybe just because you are not as involve in the farm for few days or maybe you level of stress is lower (I hope so). On your rant about wind, it exist because the sun heat the atmosphere. Is the sun fault, not the wind.🙂

I hate strong wind too. It makes me too nervous to sleep. Mauro - I don't know if I ever said it - your English is phenomenal. I hope you don't have water pooling and coming under the small door into the bedroom. I'm sure the stress of the roof construction will be more than repaid by taking away the stress of the roof leaking! I'd pay to stay in your current house for a week (if I ever get to Spain) after your permanent house is finished. ❤

Roof off and rain is sooo stressful. We did a Reno with this company called Kurmac Builders here in Calgary they hired this guy who it looked like had no idea what they were doing and the tarp blew off and rain was pouring in. It damaged the ceiling, it was so stressful. So wind although it’s a pain in the ass but rain with no roof is the ultimate bummer.

You had me worried with the title - glad it's only because of it being the least horrible time to do it (minus the wind). Amazing that you're reusing the tiles - I'm all for reuse but might have gone the easy/safer way of replacing them. That ceiling sealing will likely pay of as it's adding another wind break to the roof. What kind of insulation did you install? I hope you manage to get a bigger door installed, that door would probably keep me from using the terrace as much!

The bell tent is awesome esp if you get a good quality. But yo save you bell tent you buy a protective flag that goes over the tent and that safe you many many folds.
