Heyyyyyy lovelies, in this video I am back with the silkscreens and I am using the self adhesive silk screens with Mica powder on the beautiful tray mould from Let's Resin. I will be using Let's Resin Mica powder and two types of Let's Resin Epoxy resin. The Black resin and clear. Stunning tray! It's so you! Claire if you add a little alcohol to your mica powder so it is like a thicker water color paint, you won't have the mica flying away. I bought cheap deviled egg containers at a dollar store and I use a egg shape for the diffrent colors. I never clean the mica out, the alcohol will disappear and the mica will now look like a water color paint, add alcohol when you want to use it again. I never dust molds with dry mica anymore. Using wet mica you won't need to use your Hoover to suck-up the extra ever again. Wendy at Toonpish got me started with the wet mica!

Idea: put some of the gold mica (or both) into your black. Just a little, not a bunch. It might help to disguise any missed overspill. Other idea: use the chameleon with the stencil, and the other with the black, or vice versa.

Honestly much less of the powder floated than i expected I bet vacumming would be the answer its still gorgeous!

Claire, that's stunning! GORGEOUS! 😍💕 Sweetie, BEFORE removing the stencil, go outside and, using canned air, blow the excess off, THEN remove the stencil. 😊 You'll still have a bit of fallout, but not much.

Oh Claire, what can I say, spectacular is the right word…. I’m definitely a bug girl…. This is hands down my favorite stencil project!! I was wondering, if you could do this with mixing the mica with alcohol… might help with the fallout, even though the fallout doesn’t bother me at all… Great job!!!

I had the same thought, but wouldn't it be too thin a mixture and maybe seep under the silkscreen? Make a good experiment though...

Oh Claire,you did clean the surface of the mold. Unfortunately those micas always move when you pour the other colors over the top of micas. I don’t know if you could seal them first, that would be the only way you could keep them from moving. But maybe that Beetle had more mica powder on than the others. It’s an absolute beautiful tray, love the black and gold. ♥️♥️♥️

I have started using a dryer sheet to wipe down my silicon mold before I even start and it helps remove some of the static. Just be careful not to scratch your mold. If you use one that has already been used it’s a lot softer.

I love this! As others have said, that fall out looks deliberate so don't worry about that. I do personally love and prefer the green/gold switch though. I reckon some of those would also look great with a sort of blue/green shift as well ❤️

Great idea! I love this being an option. An idea I am having would be to make a paste out of your mica powder with your isopropyl alcohol, then put it on your silk screen like you would paint. It would probably cut down on your fall out a bunch and shouldn't change the way your mica looks once it's dry. I hope you try this out so we can see your results! I don't have silk screens, or I'd try it myself. :p

I've been watching a few of your videos over the past couple of weeks, as I'm teaching myself about wax pouring, and just bought my first package of Resincrete, so thank you for your enthusiasm and your demonstrations. Personally, I like the the green flashes in the gold: it adds dimension and life, especially as these critters are really more than one color when the light hits them anyway. Beautiful result. (I can't use epoxy resin: no real workspace in the house, and I have two cats whose rights to roam the rooms take precedence over most things, so I can't have them breathing in fumes even from the least toxic epoxy).

Lovely! Great job. Even in nature, nothing is perfect. We’ve got to remember that and stop trying to make it perfect or repairing items after curing. I’m just starting resin. I love the gold with the green combo just as it is. It is beautiful Claire! When you did your top coat you could of put just a smidge of gold powder in it and it might of blended that spot in. Just a thought. 😊 But I love it!

I love love love bugs and nature!! And most animals except monkeys if I’m being honest!!! This tray and mica and silkscreen and resin I would personally pick up and make all day everyday and sell them day in and day out!! Im not even joking! I’m not even a crafter! Gorgeous Claire!! When I have micas that do that I add super fine gold (or whatever matches) holo dust to the top coat.. just a tiny bit so it makes it look I meant to do that. Overall lovely piece and the dust doesn’t detract from the beauty of it ❤ Thanks for sharing 🌹🌹🌹

Thanks for doing this! It answered on of my questions that I had if mica or other powers would work though silk screens. I have so many marked in my amazon that I can order now! Mica always seems to lift up and move around. Saw in the back of the tray to. The second color really popped with the top coat.

Tape will help to pick the mica off a surface. it can be any type of tape.. I use masking tape or Painters tape. Wetting the mica smears it.. you just have to get Most of the mica off before getting it damp.
