This video includes a step by step how to hand sew this whole skirt with no machine stitches. It can be sewn by machine as well. This is a free beginner pattern by charm patterns. This is a free beginner lesson on how to do a gathering stitch, it is sometimes also called the straight stitch, and is also interchangeable with a basting stitch or running stitch. In this video I will first show you how to do the gathering stitch, and then how to use this stitch during the making of a skirt entirely by hand. So follow along class. This is lesson 4 of my learning to sew series. In this series I’m teaching basic techniques so you can learn to sew at home. Using these easy techniques you can start to sew your own clothes, or anything you desire to create.
*I’m not a professionally trained seamstress, everything I share was taught to me by my mother and grandmother, as well as some tidbits I picked up over the last 28 years of sewing my own things including costumes and clothing.
