Meet Anna di Pishtonya, or simply Baba Anya.
At the beginning of the 20th century, this 90-year-old grandmother, God's dandelion, killed 150 men, although she herself believed that she was simply helping local women with their "family problems."
For one death, Baba Anya received about three thousand dollars (in terms of modern money.) However, grandmother was worried not only about money, she did it rather for the soul. Anna really hated men.
My grandmother did not immediately become a murderer and a man-hater, until the age of 20 she was a rather sweet and pleasant girl.
Anna Drashkin was born in 1838 in Romania, in the family of a wealthy cattle breeder, and received a good education. At least at school she studied with the children of the local rich.
In 1849, her family moved to Serbia, on the border with the Ottoman Empire - in the region known as the Banat military frontier. There was no shortage of warriors, and young Anna fell in love with one of them. A young Austro-Hungarian officer quickly turned her head, infected her with syphilis, and then left to heroically fight the Ottomans.
The fact that there was no war with Turkey then, the girl did not immediately realize, but when she realized that she had been deceived and thrown, infecting her with the “French cold” (as they used to call syphilis), she hated all men.
A little later, she married a man named di Pistogna, who was 20 years older than her. The girl took his last name and bore him 11 children, but they were all sick. 10 of them never made it to adulthood.
Having lived for 20 years in marriage, Anna's husband died under mysterious circumstances, and the widow decided to do what she always had a soul for - herbalism and medicine.
Having used all her knowledge and skills, she equipped a chemical laboratory in a wing of her house and took up healing. People willingly turned to her for help, she really was a master of her craft, and skillfully mixed herbs and chemicals. As a result of her work, many sufferers soon recovered and got back on their feet. Over the years of her work, Anna has made a brilliant career. The peasants almost prayed for the herbal magician and gave her an affectionate nickname - Baba Anna.
