I respect you as a fighting game player but when it comes to anything by from software you need to re-evaluate your mechanics and decision making. Like as most people say, yes it's easier to deflect in this game, and thats the cheese but it's really not just that it's a balance of all of the three main combat mechanics. Posture damage, dodging and deflecting. There are moves you can not deflect (even though most you can) but for some people to come out and say "well this is better" it also depends on the person. Ive seen a many people cheese lady butterfly, but i had a much easier time with dodge, deflect, shuriken (when shes mid air) and even in dark souls and bloodborne there are really no "god builds" it all comes down to mechanics and timing and the only mechanic in sekiro is NOT just deflecting. But the people telling you not to play it like DS are right. I've beaten the souls games and bloodborne up to ng +6 but this game is NOTHING like them. I'm not good at giving gaming advice, but you should really use your mobility, as well as your deflect more. They gave you that jump for a reason, sometimes its way better then dodging, We're just preprogrammed to dodge because invincibility frames but those don't seem to exist much in this game. GL man, hope you finish the game on your own time, but I think you're just forcing videos instead of learning the game. EDIT: I recede the jumping part. You may indeed actually jump too much.

Some tips if you would like. 1. The bull is easier than it seems, no joke.. just bum rush him. Chase that b**** down and try to stay behind ( for obvious reasons) this will present an obvious opening especially when the bull hits a wall. 2. You may gain extra damage opportunities via firecrackers purchased from the merchant nearby the horse guy boss field. 3. As for the Shinobi Hunter, again there is an easy way. Just get used to his animation tells and block when there is no kanji. When there is a kanji, it is either a sweep or poke; again, learn the animations and either jump over the sweep followed by a head bounce or counter the jab. Both of these will do BIG posture damage. I would say dont even attack him, just deflect and counter till he breaks.

The game has 3 difficulty modes: 1. Easy mode, at the beginning of the game you get Kuro's charm. If you choose to keep it, then the game will be in easy mode. 2. Normal mode, giving Kuro back his charm puts the game in normal mode. 3. Activating the Demon Bell. By activatig the Demon Bell the game goes into hard mode. You're treating this game like dark souls WAY too much. The spear guy HEAVILY telegraphs his thrusts. If you mikiri counter them his posture depletes like crazy. But if you back out after every hit his posture will reset. Also when an enemy deflects you that means they're about to do their own combo so DEFLECT

This game also has stealth features as you know. Use them. Before fighting any boss with adds, you gotta pick them off. Ceramic shards come in real handy when drawing attention. Hug walls, throw them, hide in grass and wait for enemies to be singled out, etc. I had a hell of a time with the spear because of it's range. Other than that though, he has lunge attacks and swipe attacks. Get close and dodge the lunges if you are not good at parrying yet. Swipes require you to jump, but if you are close and jump, you can double jump on his head and damage his posture. Helping with kill strikes. Fyi, the fire tool doesn't work on all enemies. I used it on the spear guy and he didn't even stagger. Even when I threw oil and lit him up.

Gourd only gets 10 levels to it. There’s also a fire gourd, poison and terror. Find the dragon mask to use points to level up attack.( get mask parts from the guy in the barrel that wants carp scales). There’s a lot to this game. A LOT. Every time the death symbol pops up when fighting the Shinobi Hunter, use the Mikiri Counter; you already have the skill unlocked because I saw you use it but you only used it once (unless he's doing the sweep attack then you jump and kick him in the head, both of those moves deal out huge amounts of posture damage And if you explore more you'll find more items and tools for your shinobi prosthetic that will help against specific enemies. The axe, for example, makes quick work of enemies with shields or the little guys with the big hats

It's always better to kill the smaller enemies before engaging the main boss. Go for stealth kills or shuriken kills. Some bosses can be lured away from their friends such as Juzou (The boss of the burning place area). Also, get the loaded axe since it can break the shields in 1 hit straight into a deathblow. It can also break the hat shield of the little rat dudes past the Ashina gate.

The firecrackers is located near the old lady you talked to, to get the bell. From that house, head downhill a little more, past Inosuke Nogami. Just before you reach the gate. where the guard with the mortar cannon will spot you, turn to the left and grapple up. At the ledge, turn left again and grapple up some more. Then grapple one more time up. At the very top, there is a black tent. There you can buy the firecrackers for 500 yen/coins. You can use the light coin purses. if you have any in your inventory to buy it. If you don’t have any. you’ll find three Light Coin Purses in the hidden room under the old lady’s house. just watch out for the two roosters guarding it.

The bull can be easily defeated if you run and dodge him and stay behind him. When he tries to charge you and miss and drift that’s your opportunity to get behind him. Plus when behind the bull it tries to side swipe you so be mindful to side swipe. With the shinobi hunter you’ll need to unlock the the special move parry. Once you unlock that you’ll be able to parry enemies specials.

Once you get past the brazen bull, it's entirely possible to have 9 gourd seeds before fighting any storyline bosses. It involves a lot of sneaking, cheesing a mini-boss, grinding for sen (though it's not that hard when you pop a balloon to temporarily bring up the amount of cash you get) and running past enemies (although killing mini-bosses are great for those prayer beads). Don't give up!

In the burning area you can get 2 new Shinobi Prosthetic additions, 1 of which allows you to break shields. The shield breaker is sort of hidden so look for 2 guys near a temple talking about burning it the tool is in the temple.

Missed 3 prosthetics in the early game. 1st Prosthetic - Firecracker (a merchant sells it for 500 gold in Ashina Temple. After you pass the first mini boss just look for high points you can grapple to. I think it was in the left side of the map. 2nd Prosthetic - FlameVent, you can get it in Hirate Castle. When you get to the second buddha you have to go right. Climb the buildings and look for a bonfire with many guards. You passed it already and killed them but you didnt get the prosthetic. (it's before you meet the dying guy that says "those bastards". You use that prosthetic for the Ogre which you already killed. 3rd Prosthetic - Loaded Axe. After you pass the dying guy who says "those bastards" take a right. You'll see two guys standing in front of a shack. You can eavesdrop on them and they'll say something like "we should burn this". Kill them then open the shack and you get the loaded axe. Dousing powder is useful agains the bull cause it negates fire effects. Mikiri Counter (shinobi skill) is useful against the Shinobi Hunter. If you want to practice. Go to the dilepetated temple and turn right. You'll see a dead samurai standing. He's a training dummy

How to kill the blazing bull: You let him charge, don’t try to block it’s really about sticking to his side and getting behind him. (Yes, hitting the head does do extra damage but it’s risky). Also, if you have the fire crackers it makes the fight so much easier.

Having played Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne I was super excited to get my hands on Sekiro. When I was stuck at Genichiro for days (weeks maybe) I almost gave up. Today I finished the game and I'm proud of it. Here's my (a novice gamer) take. What I love about it? 1. The stealth system which was non existent in previous games. 2. The combat system was refreshingly different. Yes learning the moves of every boss and getting the deflect timing isn't easy but trying to parry in Dark Souls was absolutely shit. 3. Boss fights though hard were unique. In previous games the only strategy was dodge get behind the boss and hit. What I didn't like? 1. The spacing between boss fights. I kill one boss and feel on top of the world and in no time you are forced to face another hard boss. 2. Combat arts, apart from a couple were mostly ineffective. Nothing that gave you a serious edge against a boss. 3. Bosses and locations being recycled. I was tired of fighting Genichiro, the ape and the owl twice. Sekiro has it's flaws but is still enjoyable. Is it really harder that the previous games. I'm not sure. Could you have finished the previous games without summoning players? Honestly I summoned my way through them.
