I hate how inconsistent both the anime and the fans are. Sometimes it wants to be a parody and make fun of isekai, and then it somehow wants us to care and think the main characters are badass? Same with the fans, some say it's super hilarious and how its actually just a parody, it's trash on purpose! Then the other half of fans think its so badass, well written, and so cool

All the girls align with Cid and because nothing is a problem for their leader, by extension they have no stakes in the game either. Their personal lives may be riddled with conflict, but they're so boring, who cares what they go through internally. The season 1 ending, gave Rose a grandiose setup, only to force us watch her be an imbacile who wins a whole kingdom to herself. She didnt even have to kill the bad guy, or question her actions because her daddy set up everything to procede in her favor after hes dead. The bitch doesnt even have to exprience guilt despite being a shit leader whos only going to serve as a proxy for Cid, since hes "her man". Its been a long time since ive seen a character be so coddled. But i guess for the fans, its okay to love a narcissist as long as shes pretty and sometimes holds a big sword.

This anime annoys me. The main character is a Chuniboyo who gets reincarnated in a world where everything goes his way. There's nothing to care about. No one to root for. I get it's a comedy but it isn't funny to me.

I hated the main characters of shounen except jjk. The eminence in shadow is an isekai type anime but it feels like shounen.I agree with everything you said. Finally someone with the truth.It's a series that has the potential to be a quality series if it weren't for the main character.Fans who take this anime seriously and not as a parody are losers.Especially those who take the main character seriously.

I disagree with your take episode 10. Episode was fantastic. It established character relationships, personalities, and objectives. Beta is a dedicated writer and adept in translation. Epsilon has honed the use of slime to a high degree, and has a rivalry with Beta. Eta works through the night on technology research and development. Gamma works under the alias of "Luna" to expand Mitsugoshi as well as gather intel by listening to high ranking customers. Compared to the other seven shades, Delta is lazy. Although Iris is Alexia's older sister, she often gets her way through coercive tactics. Episode 10 was great. Boiling it down to: "bouncing juggling boobies," demonstrates that your mind is further down in the gutter than the animators and writer.

@@luxsjunkyard That wasn't my point. I wasn't arguing that they had incredibly deep backstories and character motivations. I was arguing for the episode itself. Throughout the previous 9 episodes, it only showed bits and pieces about the inner workings of shadow garden and its executives. Episode 10 was a much needed episode to do just that. The Eminence in Shadow is an expansive story that sacrifices nuances for world building rather than a smaller story that focuses only on three or four characters.

I agree. Episode 10 isnt just a shallow fan service filler episode, to label it as such is disingenuous. It was both a comedic and set up episode for the next arc, but also provided some character development and did contain a few story elements. Also most of the 'fan service' was comedic in nature, humor is certainly subjective, I found the episode hilarious however. This anime simply didnt not have 1 bad episode.

I won't defend the show or the audience, but while I agree that this self deprecating attitude is a huge problem in our community and super annoying, I didn't read that from the show itself. Before listening to these 17 minutes, I was really confused, why someone would get so angry at something that i perceived as somewhere between just average and bad. As far as I see it, the problem lies purely with the 'fans'. And Gigguk of course. Because I don't think any of the creators of this show had a similar ironic attitude. They probably just thought it was funny to make a show about a psychotic sociopath. You are of course free to give the show the lowest score and call the original author and animators idiots, but your rage is misdirected at people who actually managed to create something. That's not very Moe-Zilla. It's always the sick mob. My only criticism is that until now it wasn't clear enough, what part of this was most annoying to you. If anything, you should lay even harder into them, so they really feel it.

While I understand the "so bad it's good" bs, but depend on the person any anime could suffer from that. Pretty sure many people believe Eminence is a good anime, and you say it themself, it's literally just isekai OPM, with MC live in a comedy genre and the rest of the casts doing the serious story. They live in a completely different genre, and the gap between it is what makes it so good, the serious story is good, the comedy? That's subjective, no matter how hard you said it sucks, I laugh at it, that's all I need to appreciate it, and yet I don't laugh at something like konosuba. OPM is good tho, until they threw away the comedy and just become another battle shounen.

You’re right, and i also agree bcuz I didn’t like giggucks video on eminence at all, he pooped on it the entire video and said he liked it at the end bcuz it’s cringe in a edgy cool way, imo i thought eminence was genuinely good and i personally liked it the best out of all fall and winter anime season for me i stand by it and that it may be one of the best anime of all time in my list of anime not just isekai but in all of anime that i have watched especially in a enjoyment scale, Was definitely a 10/10 for me and this video definitely helped me to show that i should double and quadruple down on what i like, Thanks in advance

Agree 110% with pretty much everything you said. The Eminence in Shadow was the best anime in the fall/winter season hands down. It's not 'trash' or 'bad' that is a stupid and cowardly take. Its not only an excellent anime in the isekai genre its an excellent anime period. 10/10

I love this anime, I think it's absolutely brilliant. I do agree with you though that Gigguk is an absolute moron, as are all the sheep that parrot his takes. That being said I think you're falsely ascribing the 'so bad its good' or 'this is trash' attitude to the anime rather than the brain dead content creators who are actually responsible for propagating it. I've been recommended at least 6 'copycat' videos before the Gigguk video with the exact same title and premise and another 3 immediately following his video. It's like you said, if you like something even if it's unconventional or not the best thing ever have the conviction to admit that you like it and embrace it. Sadly most of these content creators are dumb cowards who are too embarrassed to admit that they like something without qualifying it with self-deprecating remarks for fear they might be ridiculed. I dont think the creators of the anime or the original writer were trying to create something 'bad' or 'trashy'. It is simply a subversive work and I think that's ok. If anything its the complete opposite of what you're saying as the show actually embraces many of the tropes and supposed 'cringe' to make incredibly cool moments. As someone who actually likes isekai and power fantasies I never felt the show had a distain for the medium or genre. Finally using 1 episode of 20 which by all accounts is a set up episode at the end of an arc to characterize the show in general as some fan service heavy trash is very disingenuous. Also most of the fan service in the show but particularly in this episode is used to comedic effect.

To be fair the anime is the least good version of this show. The manga and the light novel in the web novel are much better. But every version of this is different from each other. I feel like you're missing the point of the show. You have a serial killer as a main character. Imagine if you will of the Punisher but he was obsessed with role playing. And the comedy isn't making fun of anime. The comedy is the same comedy from 3 is Company. The art of misunderstandings. On the other hand I feel like you're hate for the show's politically-motivated. But I think if you read the Manga you'd realize the anime really f***** up. That being said I still accept the anime and like it. But I am disappointed, it could have been much better.

This show is for entertainment purposes, not for: "oooh! how deep is plot; how wide is worldbuilding; how multidimensional characters is". Thought Eminence presents those points (details of characterisation, of plot and of worldbuilding) better than most stories (and +- on level of good or mediocre stories). (which if you interested - i'll give more full answer) Also, i want to say - your serious attitude gone in wrong directions with that show.
