The thing about changing phases and a player staying in the main phase for example is actually a really big deal, and something I didn't know about until about two months ago. I've been playing for over ten years, and generally know the rules pretty well, so when this came up in a game my group kind of had a meltdown. We're all experienced players, and there we were, learning how combat works after a decade!

Fun game with good interactions among the group as usual... but I had not fully realized until now how linear and repetitive Feather's gameplay is (but it's effective, so good for Boros to have this option).

I made many a Dimir Zombie deck but than I remembered Varina, totally underrated Esper Zombie commander. I love how Varina can quickly snowball and the addition of White adds quite a lot for Zombies. My favorite card in my Varina deck is Lucille, the idea that a Zombie wields Lucille (gains menace,+2 and causes the defending player to sacrifice a creature making me a ''walker(zombie'') on attack) is hilarious! I don't know why but Varina gives off a Phyrexian vibe to me, with barely any back story, I like to think that they exist far in the future when Elesh Norn has combined/compleated herself with Jin Ghitaxias, Sheoldred calling themselves Varina and is now planning planar dominance, engaging in multiple battles at once, sending their endless undead hordes from one plane to the next through planeswalking portals. Varina is the end game goal of Phyrexia picking at the ''past'' to conform to their ''future'' ;p

Cause in my playgroup one of my friends has a deck that's easily 90 to 95% proxies with power nines like cradle and shit like that. I guess my real question is whether or not to ask him to make something real or leave it alone

Ask your playgroup about implementing Rule 0, then discuss proxies from there.
@narkfly2 жыл бұрын
I've seen this idea mentioned somewhere, I think on Nitpicking Nerds: Make sure proxies are part of rule zero conversation. Their suggestion was: if proxies bring a budget deck up to the play group's power level, the play group will likely be fine with it. If someone is utilizing proxies to win the arms race and push way ahead in power level, the group may want to ask them to dial it back down some.

It’s not about winning or losing? It’s about how to control your anger and play better magic. Winning is part of the ideology of everything we put into. Hanging out with friends is cool for casual play but it’s also about winning and losing games. I love to see my friends who are salty while losing a game. I get salty too losing a game. Anger issues can be overwhelming by Individuals who can’t handle the heat. He’s right, it’s about having a good time playing game with folks who are close to you. @IHateYourDeck2 жыл бұрын
Feel free to print proxies. Even full decks. This is an expensive hobby. People who love commander can’t get enough. Love the variety. Some people have hundreds of decks. Some have 30. Don’t feel the need to compete. Best advice I was given was to pricy full decks. Play the crap outta them. Then once you know you like a deck and love it if you can afford to, go buy the cards to make the deck real.

I dont think Dauthi exiles Feathers cards on his turn, doesnt he get to choose ? 419.9a If two or more replacement or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object’s controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply. Then the other effect applies if it is still appropriate. If one or more of the applicable replacement effects is a self-replacement effect (see rule 419.6d), that effect is applied before any other replacement effects. If two or more players have to make these choices at the same time, choices are made in APNAP order (see rule 103.4).

Just and FYI Skylar could of assigned 14 damage to the first creature with first strike damage (sacing the Guttersnipe) then 14 damage to rest to the other creatures dealing the extra trample damage to the player. This is a very niche interaction that usually never comes up and would only be used if you have an effect that would have you remove things. Not that it mattered in the end but still something to keep in mind.

Did anyone else notice that when Lynch cast Hostage taker targeting Skylar's gnome that he never let the stack resolve on Hostage taker's ETB trigger? Doesn't this mean that hostage taker left the battlefield before the ETB trigger resolved permanently exiling the target of his choice? So stack went Leaves the battlefield>swords>Hostage ETB. Best case scenario here was actually to allow it to resolve and cause him to become unequipped while the play he actually did causes a perm exile effect. Pretty much this is the same way Brago wins games by triggering LTB triggers before the ETB resolves.
