You're not playing hard enough if you don't make any mistakes. I'm sure you realized this at some point but that take back shot for the donate should have only been to tap the city of brass with transcendence on the stack. Then you would have lost the life before it resolved still keeping the action im play.

Everytime I see zedru, I get reminder of the game I had where I was playing Jon Irenicus vs zedru and we just kept giving each other things. The other two decks ended up being collateral of our exchanges, and thus my Jon deck became known as 7pm Santa, and the zedru became 7am santa.

I used 'the' based sobriquets on my DnD characters before it was cool (it wasn't original 20ish years ago when I was doing it, but it's always a fun way to figure out a name)! High points include Gath the Render, an half-ogre that doubled as the party cook (he had WIS 15!), wacky hijinks ensue obviously. I'm glad you guys brought on a Rule Zero deck, I've been thinking about doing some Rule Zero decks myself. I'm not going to lie, but you guys hitting this hot sauce is making me think of my Carolina Reaper plant that I have in my greenhouse, I did use some for delicious salsa (1 pepper makes ~14 jars noticeably hot to eat for a person who likes very hot food by global standards, this 1 pepper is hotter than my 7 jar batch of salsa that was heated by 4 ghost peppers). The plant is growing in my greenhouse and has plenty of peppers, so I might try eating one. The last two times I ate Carolina Reaper peppers it ended kinda badly (matriculation is very uncomfortable ~30 minutes later!), but I guess we'll see? Either way I should probably start any super-hot peppers I'm going to grow, because I'm in the Northern Hemisphere and they take forever to finish here!

Hi! I really liked the episode and i think the take-back-shots are an awsome idea, but Raymond lost the game because he would have had to take 2 Shots in order to take back 2 Actions, but later on during Seans turn, he only had to take 1 Shot to take back multiple Actions. Doesn't seem fair. Everyone misses things sometimes. I guess what i'm trying to say is, if you are going to be strict about taking things back it should be a fleshed out Rule. One way to avoid these things could be for 1 Shot take you back 1 Phase instead of 1 Action. That way you really have an oportunity to fix the mistakes you made and keep the game interesting for everyone. Anyway, you guys are doing a great job, thanks for the awsome videos. I've got a prosper artifact/treasure deck of my own and it's pretty potent no matter how you tweak it, the card advantage and ramp in the command zone makes everything work better. I doubt any prosper deck is lower than an 8, i normally present mine as a 9 as it doesn't run all the man positive rocks but i've got a lot of interaction and several potential combo wins.

In a recent game my buddies stopped Raggadragga 2 times so it cost me 8 to cast but in a single turn with Raggadragga and Viridian Joiner out I cast Shivan Devastator, +7/+7 trample untap Viridian Joiner, cast Turntimber Symbiosis (pulled a Tyrant Familiar), +7/+7 trample untap Viridian Joiner, tapped Viridian Joiner for 17 mana, attempted to cast Return of the Wildspeaker to draw 17 cards they scooped, Gruul spellslinger for the win! ;p

When Finn was in standard I played a lot of Green Black deathtouch on Arena. It won really fast and I loved it, I was always sad that as a commander he has only one color. Black would really help him out.

Loved the show as always, good fun. But a bit a technical question: Usually in MTG, you can freely tap and untap lands until you use the mana or announce that it is floating (even in MTG Arena you can do that). How come he had to take a backsy-counter just to untap the land?

Because he had cast a spell that had resolved. Then he just got confused. If it was just tapping a land with no other action then yes that would have been different. Plus on our show or in real life its all about how the table feels. It’s very Democratic. Whatever everyone is ok with works. I believe in Commander as long as everyone is having fun and is ok with whatever fair game.

By the formal rules, once you've tapped a land, it's tapped. The formal rules don't have an undo feature. MTG Arena lets you undo taps when they don't trigger anything, but that's it.

Sean took back multiple actions he should take multiple shots too. He took back a Creative Technique a land play and an Academy Manufacturer. If you are going to hassle one player about taking back multiples you gotta hassle every player.

Actually the Judge made Raymond lose a tad early. The damage you take from City of Brass is a triggered ability; so that uses the stack. While that mana is on the stack, Raymond could have tried to get rid of transcendence and would have survived. Likewise the 2 life from transcendence are a triggered ability that also uses the stack. Admittedly Raymond was probably going to cast Harmless Offering or Donate, which are sorceries, however he had one go of priority more to try and get rid of that pesky enchantment! GG tho!

The issue there is that the commander protects itself from removal. That might make it too strong. It also turns an effect like Heroic Intervention into something close to Triumph of the Hordes, which might be a bit too much.

Raymond gets 'punished' by Sean into taking back only one game action per hot sauce shot (he wanted to take back casting a card and tapping a pain land but only got to do the latter), but then when Sean misplays he just takes one shot to reverse two game actions, playing a land from exile and casting his Academy Manufacturer. Rude! :D

First thing, we are bringing Ray back. He's a great guy, be ready to see more of him in future episodes. Also, if Ray had seen that Sean did that and spoke up about it, we def would have made Sean take 2 shots and 2 takebacks. Sometimes when playing the game it's easy to get stuck in your head or looking at your hand, plotting your next play you just miss those things. I honestly don't think anything was done in ill will. But as you see how the show goes, commander games we just have to talk it out and present our cases. And make sure everyone is having fun.

It was politicking from Sean, in a way, to force Ray into that decision-making situation with just a whisper of words. I totally see and understand. I definitely believe Commander is a social format. On the show I believe the entire table has to agree on whatever we do. If you rewatch I was initially fine with the one shot. But if any of the other players speak up and give a reason we listen. So every player has a voice. Good news we are bringing Raymond back. He’s a great guy and a fun player. If anyone would have said he Sean you need to shots I think he would have done it. Luckily Sean’s play didn’t effect the outcome of the game which we won’t say so we don’t spoil anything. There have been times where we have let some player slip without a take backs like in episode 50. Ayli in Episode 50 should have taken s shot to target Terror of the peaks. We make mistakes. It’s easy to get lost in the moment. Especially when you are having fun. I’m not a judge. Our judge is there to answer questions and prevent as many misplays as we can catch. But the judge can’t tell any of us how to play just like a tournament. We have to figure it out with the four people in the game. But when we hear feedback like this, I’ll definitely try to watch out in the future to keep things as fair as possible. I do tend to just let the vibe happen if everyone is having fun. That’s why I love magic. Having fun.

He was completely blocked to the point he didn't even notice obvious lethal damage on the table, and everyone was screaming at him to make decisions instantly. It seemed a bit too much, really; this game does often require a moment to think.

It was really great to see a rule 0 commander get some screen time, and demonstrate that they have their place in the EDH world! I play a rule 0 "Angel Combat Tribal" deck with Sol, Advocate Eternal (a dragon/angel wizards employee promo) and Maelstrom Archangel as the "promoted" partner. It's MUCH less powerful than the "legal version", which runs Najeela at the helm, but i love playing the partner version at any table that allows for it! Thank you to Lynch and the staff as always for the content and entertainment!
