I hated my dad when he was alive... but now I love him

I had an extremely rocky relationship with my father. Very love/hate... more hate than anything. But as I get older the memories turn from mostly hate... to mostly love...

Your honesty and story got me like 🥺 The more I learn about psychology and abuse, it’s pretty amazing how we’re still able to maintain some sense of humanity despite all the fuckery in this world… it’s even more amazing how you’ve been able to transform your trauma into a life in which you’re thriving! I personally think of forgiveness as a process, much like with life in general, where you reach a deeper layer of truth and release with each new experience or bit of knowledge you gain… Reading Meeting The Shadow gave me a powerful perspective into the cycles of brokenness and lack of awareness into the normalized fucked up mental models/behaviors exemplified to us in childhood, but also the childhood of our parents and grandparents and so on… It’s like a horrifying rerun of the same story but with the next generation’s backdrop… It’s hard to escape but thank you for reminding us that it is possible to choose to take a different path in life!

Thank you for sharing and allowing yourself to be vulnerable 🙏 I lost my father December 2019 and my relationship with him wasn't the best... I missed him while he was alive... He was the person I used to hate the most... It's weird how everything changes when you lose your dad... Actually I'm still feeling numb...but so far, I'm realising that I don't feel that secure while the world is getting crazier... As shitty as he is I'm realizing also that no man will ever love as much... May all gone dads rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
