I'm 30 and don't have many friends. I spent my 20s working a dead-end job and smoking weed, which was a huge mistake. My social circle got smaller over the years as my friends got married, dived into their careers, and generally moved on with their lives. I only quit pot 13 months ago, and have slowly been making moves since then. I deadass only chill with like 3 different people now. It's sad because I still have the mentality of a 20 year old. Not ready for all this boring adult stuff, but life is about moving forward not back.

agreed but life is also what we make it. we spend too much time worrying about what others think and we spend too much time creating problems in our head when in actuality, we’re all just pretending to know what to do. everything we’ve created we take it too damn seriously. picture yourself right now and then picture yourself transporting to the moon rn and starting back at the Earth. all your “problems” and worries vanish. we’re just a speck of dust in a dark room. p.s. i’m not high rn 😂

My lack of friends makes me think I have perception issues. People praise how down-to-earth and blunt-yet-careful I can be but despite this they always feel like they don't know me at all. It's weird because I'm not secretive with my thoughts and I bring up my past when relevant, yet I'm still seen as mysterious to the point where I'm a void in most people's minds, even familiy members. HOWEVER, it also seems like people don't recall the things I tell them so I have no idea if I'm really doing anything wrong, but if that's the case I've always been around the wrong people which is unreasonable. I don't know maybe I'm just not cut out for friends 🤷🏽♂️

I'm 20 right now, just graduated High school earlier this year and I'm in a similar situation as well. I had plenty of friends who I thought would be my friends for a very long time,which I'm sure all of us thought especially during a 7 year + friendship or so. The more I grew older I realized one of my closest friend only cared about himself. For instance he would clearly get jealous when girls he was interested in school gave me attention and not him, which I realized really early and didn't take any offense to it. So I decided to pay no attention to the girls that were unknowingly breaking my friendship with my closest bud. And finally a time had come when I was basically forgotten by the girls since I decided to hang out with my buddy more than with them. And guess what? My closest bud turned everything against me, and I pretty much ended up being a loner for the rest of the last year in my high school. I thought he would atleast do what I did for him in the first place which was leaving all the spotlight to spend time with him. It turns out he wasn't the same person I thought he was 7+ years ago. Kinda sucks not going to lie. But I've learned my lesson. This small anecdote might sound immature and childish but there's alot of manipulation/backstabbing that went into this, that I can't disclose in this single comment.

I haven’t heard Jordan’s response to Nyne but Imma say this. In all actuality there is no good or evil only neutrality. From ones perspective a good thing is a bad thing and a bad thing is also a good thing depending on the person. A good example of neutrality that I learned is the sun. The sun is both a source of joy and pain if you really think about it. The way the sun brings joy is that it gives us warmth, energy, light, gives life to the plants, animals and insects which helps us live. But on the other hand the sun is also a source of suffering. If we stay out for too long we get dehydrated, we get skin burns, too much sun will scorch the landscape killing the plants and the animals, cause droughts, ect. Different parts of the world are affected by the sun in different ways but is the sun good or evil? The answer is neither it’s neutral. It doesn’t mean any harm nor does it mean any good. It’s just itself. We have to learn to work with the suffering in order to achieve joy. And I disagree with your parents about us ruling nature. In Buddhism we are taught that the separate self is an illusion and us human beings are made of non human elements. If you look closely humans are made out of nature and the elements. Most of our body is made of water, we absorb the sunshine, we get our food from the earth, we produce body heat so in a way fire is within, our lungs inhale and exhale oxygen that the trees produce like the wind. All animals are made of non animal elements and if you took out one element it will automatically die. We can’t think that we are superior to nature if we hurt nature we are harming ourselves. Destroying the trees that give us oxygen will make living harder so we have to be mindful. We are all one
@JordanGreenYT3 жыл бұрын
beautiful, and i agree 100%. life is about balance. there is an inherent neutrality to the universe that is paradoxically only made possible by the illusion of the separate self.

Kareem (the first guy) if you’re seeing this, I’m in the exact boat as you, same age and everything, and have had that issue since elementary school... I have two tips: #1 - you have to talk to more people, as much as possible, because this makes you realize that social interactions are not such a scary thing at all, and you begin to get used to it. The times when I’m constantly around people, I’ve noticed, my stutter seems to get better; the opposite is also true. Tip #2 is to just own your voice and not care. Don’t pretend or try to talk a certain a way, just keep yourself calm, cool, and level headed, and just be yourself. It takes some getting used to.
