Cool video Kelly -- always nice to more or less play for free and eek out a small profit. IMO: yes, the pick 'em jackpots are predetermined for most games. There definitely isn't always the opportunity for a major or grand on there (otherwise we'd be seeing a lot more of them). The mini on Dancing Drums is always a heartbreaker. As a software developer (and former game developer), I do not think the free game payout is predetermined. You are basically selecting your volatility when you choose the number of free games and the random number generator kicks in for each spin. I think it would be pretty sophisticated if the game said, "okay she bet $5.28, so let's give her a $105.32 no matter which bonus she picked". Ultimately, you'd have to ask one of the developers of these games and I bet some of their logic is proprietary, so you might not get an answer. I'd love to have a chat with a game programmer on one of these.
